I'm glad she got her justice but where are those 19 year sentences when those teachers groom and molest young boys?? It's usually a probahtion or 2 years. FFS!

She showed me that when life was overwhelming at times, she was a person I could confide in. A teacher who I could trust.

Teachers are not friends. I've heard people say that male teachers are somewhat cold, unfriendly or too strict which is why female teachers are better, but this is how it's supposed to be. Any teacher that tries to bring in personal-life stuff, or be friends with students, or try to make contact outside of school, should be treated with the utmost suspicion, if not reprimanded/fired for being unprofessional. They are there to teach, not to offer consolation or emotional support or moral guidance. The same goes for the employer/employee relationship, they are inherently asymmetrical and unbalanced and therefore cannot be friends.

Hierarchies and relationship structures may seem outdated and archaic to many, but they are very important to understand because there's a chance (admittedly, not a certainty) that things like this could have been avoided.

Read the article I have not. If I had to guess she most likely blamed the student to try and appeal to emotion in court. This is fucked shit!
