In fact all men, but no women, can be forced to take on the responsibilities of a parent, by the state.

Yep. The elites have a class interest in oppressing young men because it is young men who cause all revolutions. This instinct is so ingrained that you can see it with other social mammals. The "alpha" male lion chases away the adolescent male lions so that he can enjoy his females, while they most likely starve or die in some other way as they try to grow to adulthood. The young female lions are protected as part of the pride because they are no threat to (and benefit from) the "patriarchy".

Maybe your teacher was a second wave feminist who believes in equality of opportunity instead of equality of outcome. As for the girls in your class, I would say it is the third wave influencing them, where they believe in equality of outcome....where their emotional baggage counts as a year of hard labour and they deserve everything you worked for.

There certainly can't be a concrete answer to that question as "difficult" is a highly subjective term. I believe that both being male and being female come with their respective set of challenges as a result of societal norms and their resultant pressures. Anyone who says either sex is inherently and completely privileged or oppressed likely has selfish interests a the core of their beliefs. Even the argument used that females having to "get pregnant" can be seen from another perspective as "having the opportunity to get pregnant" whereas men cannot have that experience which is said to be a bonding experience. Alternatively, it's important to note that females don't have to get pregnant - with modern medicine it is typically a choice, but in order to procreate they do have to endure 9 months and labour whereas men do not.

I can remember these high school discussions and also remember them being very polarized on both ends. It seems from your post that you maybe have a higher level of critical thinking than your classmates at current. At this level, keep in mind that many of your classmates are just finding their identity and it's very easy to select an argument that best suits you when you lack the maturity to look at it objectively. This is especially so when schools try to support the under-dog, which historically are females. Your teacher seems to be very much on track with encouraging critical thinking and discussion. Just wait until college, you'll really be able to open up the issue on a higher level than "he-said, she-said". As an internet stranger, I encourage you not to take this biased experience too much to heart :)

I personally think it is due to an imbalance: the feminist movement is huge and pushing out all these factoids on how hard it is to be a woman, but the men's rights movement is still small at this stage and therefore unable to push out the factoids necessary to make the average person realize that men have a lot of problems too.

So I guess that sort of means I am leaning more towards the fringe group side.

Watch documentaries "the mask you live in" and "missrepresented" which cover issues for both men and women in society, (mask = men, miss = women). Women struggle with being taken seriously in the work place and struggle to meet equal representation in politics as they're constantly looked down upon as not being up to the task simply because they are women, on top of the fact that they're socially conditioned into opting for lower paying more "caregiver" -esque careers even though that might not be what they want. On the other hand with men most of it stems from the harsh reality of having to live up to ideals established by the Greeks, can't show any emotion or etsablish close relationships, men and women enforce that masculinity = anti-female, so anything even remotely associated with femininity is considered taboo, or more commonly thrown around words describing those who align with them being "gay, pussy, faggot, etc." This leads to men being more socially isolated, condemned for "being boys" in a school system that is pushing for more feminine values, leading to boys thinking education isn't for them, dropping out joining gangs, only form of support encouragement and connection they have, straying away from anything feminine (empathetic/sympathetic, emotional, close friendships, caring, or associated hobbies) and being berated for not appealing to those established ideals, on top of this there is an established male hierarchy, and for people already with low social bonds they will try to do anything to stay within line, conform to things they normally wouldn't do because it's commonly accepted by the group, ie. Have sex with girls too early, cheat/sleep around, do drugs/alchohol because if you don't you're socially ostracized from the male hierarchy and left alone / ignored, and when this happens to some boys, told they shouldn't seek help for their problems, can't make meaningful relationships, can't express emotions because it was stigmatized and looked down upon eventually spiral into depression and suicide, but nobody notices because male depression is different from typical depression where men become more aggressive, agitated by small things, start getting addicted to actions like sex or substances to escape from things and etc. I personally think men have it worse but still everyone has problems, you should look into it and bring up points next time stuff comes up, good luck man.
