Translation: He took the girls to fucking ANTIGUA! He never took ME to the Caribbean! I wouldn't mind if it was a caravan in Cornwall, but they're swimming with fucking DOLPHINS. I wrote him a lovely note saying we could still do family holidays, although they're be no sex, I'd still be frosty and bitchy - obviously - and he'd have to pay (of course, as he should). He just laughed, told me to fuck-off, and took that young girl 'web-designer' he's been knocking-off with MY CHILDREN! I don't even know what webs need designing anyway?

The shot about his new girl being 20 years younger tasted extra salty.

[–]NathanRav -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because young men don't want to go for shrivelled women like her. Young women love the power of older men I think.

Holy shit the possessiveness and paranoia is unreal.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I don't understand why it's a default that mother's love the kids more?

Like the father's are cold child killers?

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's not that their love is better, it's all about property. Women carry babies in their womb, they think that their children are theirs, and theirs alone.

[–]Mythandros 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You can't own a human. I don't care if they carried the child for 9 months. It isn't only their child. Takes two to make babies. Usually.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. But unfortunately, women and the courts devalue a father's love.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can see that.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men love their children more than women, but the government wants a cut of money. Well men make more money so his children are held hostage. You don't risk everything for marriage to have children you don't like.

Not the first article like this they've published. It's just basically pandering to women.

Now they may see the heartache millions of men go through....they won't learn shit though

[–]Bestoftherest222 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women do not lament an empty house after the ex takes the kids for the weekend, women lament the lose of power over their kids. Every day she makes it clear to her kids the dad is a piece of shit and the kids are better with her. When those kids go with the ex that all gets undermined. Its a power play and these women despise having it undermined.

But we're told being granted the majority of custody is oppressive to women as it forces them in to a maternal role...

[–]shellbross 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's because men, and fathers, are monsters that don't feel love at all. They just take the kids to piss off the mother, in fact they hate children of course!

That's a really long article and the more I read the more I was disgusted.

When you're recently divorced, the agony of your children's first holiday without you is overwhelming. This might sound over-the-top, but it really is like losing a limb.

And it's fine that you've taken the kids away from the father for the majority of the time? You want pity for your temporary pain but you inflict greater pain on the father.

But what of their first holiday without you? It seems we're just expected to button our lips on that score.

Because being a man doesn't come with a slew of "man up, shut up, pay the child support, you don't get to see your children" kind of talk.

But I worried he wouldn't know how to nurture them as I did.

Well it's already stated that you took the kids away from him for the most part.

But around the time Kei was born, things started to go wrong. We were two successful people who both worked full-time to afford our costly lifestyle. Deep down I castigated myself for not being around more for my girls: having to express milk during business trips abroad was a real low point.

Meanwhile, John travelled a lot, too and, I became paranoid about him flirting with other women. He always reassured me, but it lead to many arguments. Then there was the fact I always wanted to spend the one or two hours when I got home from work with the girls. John and I grew further and further apart. We tried marriage counselling for a couple of years, but it was hopeless.

So you then go and admit that you probably weren't the most present mother either, how does that make you better than John? And in the end it was your paranoia and unwillingness to trust that caused the divorce. But let me guess, John still foot the bill? We already know he lost the kids.

The fantastic side note:

Do children split loyalties after divorce?

Children's relationship with their mother stays the same or improves after divorce, whereas that with their father is likely to worsen, says research.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that some women are petty and also have the majority of the time with the kids.

I have many divorced friends who've admitted to competing with their ex when it comes to holidays; trying to wow the children with ever more expensive destinations and activities in order to become the favourite parent.

I love this next bit.

And that first morning without them, I felt truly desperate. I certainly wasn't fit for work as a senior banker in the City. I sent an email to my boss in the early hours asking for time off. Giving absolutely no notice was hardly common practice in my line of work.

Doesn't that portray a negative quality for hiring women? That they take time off for non-physical issues? Stack that on the endless metoo allegations now and you have yourself a full package of overpaid affirmative action. Some women work side to side with men. I respect my boss and colleagues 100% for the work and quality they do. That being said, if you're going to paint 100% of men as rapists because <0.1% actually are rapists, then why do you claim women should be treated better than men in the workplace?

Their second holiday without me was not as terrible as the first. My ex took them skiing and they were really excited about the snow.

Three years since my divorce, I now feel entirely calm when the girls go on holiday with their daddy. I know I have nothing to fear and they always have a nice time.

So you had unfounded paranoia, the father treated them well as his own kids. Yet your paranoia probably seeped into the kids and they could sense your distress + the fact that they spent the most time with you.

Absolutely disgusting article trying to generate pity for the privileged group.

It took 3 years for her to "feel calm"- welcome to how divorced fathers feel 24/7

If she (as most women) gets the kids the vast majority of the time- then yes her feelings are invalid. She is only getting what she visited on the kids father. I don't shoot a gun at someone and ask for or expect sympathy if they shoot back

[–]tehjdot -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, he's saying she should act like a grown ass women. Nut up, go to work, and trust the father of her children to be just that. The father of her children. That and she get over the crass double standard she's set.

Jesus. That headline. How about "The crippling heartache realized for 50 of 52 weeks when your partner is awarded custody.
