A boy who underwent a botched circumcision in 1965 is forced and told he is a girl- almost resulting in a sex change.

In more news today, top supermodels announced their solidarity with lowly paid male models and offered to share out their salaries ....

Oh, sorry, that might have been Onion News.

The best part is the last bit where she essentially wants to keep the door open for sleeping your way to the top but doesn't want that process to have anyone exploitive on the other side. Uh, Ms. Sarandon, it's the fact you want to sleep your way to the top that gives them the leverage to exploit you around that desire.

Can agree with you there. That's why I say I don't fully agree with her except for the last couple lines of quote. To me, I'm confused why she talks about sleeping for power, but goes on to talk about how she would have to see more Weinsteins.

I looked up this shitty book on Amazon- 1.4 stars out of 5. It was literally rated by customers interested in Science Fiction. The reviews are even worse-

Disgusting book aimed at educating women on how to misuse our laws to unjustifyibly ruin a mans reputation and career by falsely accusing him of something. This is the kind of feminist drivel that is tearing men and women apart. If you want to see why men are no longer interested in women this book gives you a clear and obvious clue. Misandry has no place on Amazon and quite honestly I am disappointed that they are even selling such obviously sexist trash.

Meanwhile, the "Feminist Lie: It Was Never About Equality," has about 4.5 stars out of 5 on Amazon. 79% rated it 5 stars out of 5 with 10% who rated it 4 stars out of 5. The reviews praise it-

I was really surprised, this is not a woman bashing book. The author gives examples of how modern feminism uses fear tactics to hold women in perpetual victimhood and encourages girls to engage in a lifestyle they will likely regret once they mature beyond clubbing and hook-up culture. He makes a compelling case using original quotes, peer-reviewed studies, legal cases, and first-person narratives. I’ve come away with a broader understanding of how rights and privileges for women evolved in the US. The author clearly cares about women and men and wants a society in which both can be happy together. I would recommend this book to Moms, Dads, and kids older than 16.

Haven't read it myself but many here suspect it is satire.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nobodies for certain it's satire- it's written by a psychologist so you would expect professional behavior.

While I may not fully agree with Sarandon's perspective on the issue at hand, I enjoy and agree with her last couple quotes BBC noted.

"What we don't want to have is being exploited and have the Harvey Weinsteins of the world holding it over your head and holding it over your project... That is the most despicable."

[–]dungone 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

You’re quoting her out in of context. What she’s saying is that she wants to have her cake and eat it, too. She thinks it’s normal for women to fuck their way to the top, but somehow magically feminists will get rid of the men who only give jobs to prostitutes who fuck on demand.

I can’t say I agree with any of that. It sounds like gibberish to me. I find it completely despicable that some women actually believe that they should be able to fuck their way to the top and then be given vast sums of money for it while countless better actors who worked hard for everything they have struggle in despair, watching a bunch of prostitutes take the leading roles.

Great catch! I guess I've been trying to hard to find something positive that Sarandon said I completely ignored context and went for the words- not their meaning.

On another note, I completely agree. To me, it's straight-up prostitution. Prostitute > deserving actress? That scale is not only daunting but also repulsive. Speaking of repulsive- you know how Megan Fox got her role in Transformers? She washed Michael Bay's sports car. Utter bullshit how a amateur and all around horrible actress like her can get a role despite not even trying. Hollywood is becoming more demented by the second- but God bless those who actually work hard to deserve these roles, not for the money or fame, but to actually make the world laugh, cry, and enjoy themselves for a couple hours. Isn't that the point of movies and entertainment?
