Tbh it's better to not sexualise that. I know that make suicide rates are higher, but we ought to cater to all suicide victims. We have to show we are better than them, not that were the same. That's how we get stuff changed

I agree with an above poster that it's an issue that shoudn't be genderized (and conveniently, probably because it mostly affects men, it isn't).

But yeah, if it were women who were ~80% of all suicide victims, you can believe it would be pushed as a gender issue ("women are so oppressed they're killing themselves at a much greater rate than men"..."we have to focus on women's mental health").

I've talked to a few people about this and it seems to be commonly believed that the male/female suicide ratio is about 1:1. They're shocked when I tell them it's about 4:1 in most countries.

I mean, it's like this with everything gendered.

With male genital mutilation you get told it's not mutilation by women who were never circumcised and have no "skin in the game," you get women doctors openly gloating about how much they love cutting infant genitals and no one cares.

With suicide you get told it's male proclivities toward violence. You get told it's because men "don't want help" (and when they ask for help the women in their life leave, and their economic status is then in jeopardy, but men should talk anyway and sacrifice all of that so we don't have to analyze our own behavior relative to them).

It's always about either women, or both. Always. No matter how little an issue affects women and how much it affects men, if we have even a 1% percentage of women, it's "both." Remember "feminist glaciology." No one cares that men aren't doing well in school. It's "we need more women in STEM and the reason they aren't in STEM MUST be sexism."

The genders are equal up to the point where this affects women negatively. This is why we pander to them socially in ALL THINGS but "gender roles are bad" even though *women are the ones enforcing gender roles. It's a bad joke.

In school it was "we need to help women" and now that women dominate education due to incentives up the wazoo, it's because "men aren't good enough."

With marriage, "men aren't stepping up" and meeting mathematically impossible standards, but asking the women to lower theirs isn't even in the conversation. How many times are men told, even men who get no action and have no standards, that they need to "lower their standards." Are women ever told to be more realistic? Fuck no. They can have it all, they can eat love and pray. Everything is about them.

Even other men love throwing men under the bus. The most unholy alliance in modern society is the traditional conventionalist working in conjunction with the feminist. One wants to keep other men down to keep competition low, the other hates men. It's a match made in hell.

The scariest thing about women is when you realize they get turned on and gravitate toward the abusers, especially if the abuser abuses another man and not her. But pointing this out labels you a "nice guy" because pointing out people's behavior makes them feel bad.

Then you get into gender expectations and how only one gender has them but we have to pretend both do even though clearly tomboys don't have a problem with dating but feminine men are "gay and lying to themselves."

This modern culture, both men and women, is sick and on its deathbed.

Women call hotlines more, maybe its an attention thing. Males don't call, they just get it over with
