Is it just me or is Nike’s Dream Crazier ad celebrating women doing the same things Gillette labeled as toxic masculinity

Controversial strategies risk isolating women in finance

A risk to women? Now that's serious.

The MeToo ladies didn't see it coming. But they don't need to bother with tiresome stuff like consequences, some man will jump in to make it all better.

An idea from one man in the business: Try not to be a jerk

That's his advice to men, not women. Like it will work.

An idea from one man in the business: Try not to be a jerk

Wow, it sure is a good thing that malicious, impossible-to-disprove accusations can't happen to someone who isn't a jerk.

Call it the Pence Effect, after U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, who has said he avoids dining alone with any woman other than his wife.

I have to say I am intrigued by the reactions to this factoid, that Pence is some kind of arch-misogynist fiend for doing this (rather than, say, putting his wife at ease).

Alert me when there's a law saying that a public official must dine alone with a female co-worker.

Interviews with more than 30 senior executives suggest many are spooked by #MeToo and struggling to cope. “It’s creating a sense of walking on eggshells,” said David Bahnsen, a former managing director at Morgan Stanley who’s now an independent adviser overseeing more than $1.5 billion.

This is hardly a single-industry phenomenon, as men across the country check their behavior at work, to protect themselves in the face of what they consider unreasonable political correctness -- or to simply do the right thing. The upshot is forceful on Wall Street, where women are scarce in the upper ranks. The industry has also long nurtured a culture that keeps harassment complaints out of the courts and public eye, and has so far avoided a mega-scandal like the one that has engulfed Harvey Weinstein.

So it's all because men are unreasonable?

“If men avoid working or traveling with women alone, or stop mentoring women for fear of being accused of sexual harassment,” he said, “those men are going to back out of a sexual harassment complaint and right into a sex discrimination complaint.”

Maybe, but it's still better than being #metoo'd.

‘Not That Hard’

On Wall Street as elsewhere, reactions to #MeToo can smack of paranoia, particularly given the industry’s history of protecting its biggest revenue generators.

“Some men have voiced concerns to me that a false accusation is what they fear,” said Zweig, the lawyer. “These men fear what they cannot control.”

Not a single clue have you.

There are as many or more men who are responding in quite different ways. One, an investment adviser who manages about 100 employees, said he briefly reconsidered having one-on-one meetings with junior women. He thought about leaving his office door open, or inviting a third person into the room.

Finally, he landed on the solution: “Just try not to be an asshole.”

And that is no protection at all since it does not matter what you do, say or don't do or don't say.

This article was written by two women without a single clue between them.

A few things:

1) MeToo started in the entertainment industry, where sex appeal applies to both genders and will stand the tests of time. In a world like that, the amount of accusations are limitless and in a constant cycle. "Young beautiful actress sleeps with old horny producer to advance her career." A tactic older than the Bible.

2) MeToo's mistake is expanding outside of the entertainment community, where sex appeal isn't as important, and women won't have it as a tool to help their careers. Because of this, we'll see more whiny articles like this, because that's what they revert to: Whining and finger pointing. First wave feminists were warning you ladies from the start, so point the fingers at yourselves.

3) As I said in a Twitter thread: Wall Street is centuries old. Do you really think excluding women will be difficult for it?
