So I have an interesting story. I’m currently in the military and have been for 19 years. My wife and I were getting along fine while I was at training for 30 days about 4 hours away. While I was out at training she told me my credit card fell out of my wallet and was in the garage. She said she put it on the computer table which I said alright. A couple days later she informed me her debit card had split, and she needed to buy groceries using my credit card. Of course I’m going to make sure my family doesn’t go without. So I said ok you can buy groceries. A couple days later I got a text from the credit card company which was not the one I had dropped in the garage asking me if I made a purchase at a gas station. I said no I did not and have actually never used that card. I asked her if she had used my credit card not announcing which one and she said just two small purchases to my other bank. So I began investigating and saw over $10,000 charges to one banks credit card account, and another $907 to my other credit card company. I asked her if someone had used my accounts and she sent me a large text saying she filed for divorce, paid for furniture, and took money out to move into a new apartment with my son. I have all text messages stating she was to only buy groceries and that turned into almost $11,000 in charges. I filed a fraud dispute as soon as I found out and just filled out the affidavit a couple days ago and sent it back in to the company explaining the issue. My one credit card for $907 had never been activated and she must have called and activated it. She was definitely over the scope of permission for groceries with $11,000 in charges. I’m curious as to what both credit card companies may do and if they tell me to file a police report I will do just that. It’s a really messed up situation and don’t wish this upon anyone if they are going through a divorce. I have a security camera and the servers have came to my house 3 times and I haven’t been home any of the times. So I’m waiting for them to come and go fight this is court on top of what the credit card companies may do. Thanks for any insight and advice since this was all just a shock to me.
