Where is abortion in the constitution.

[–]PM_ME_UR_PC_SPECS 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nowhere, but the constitution is not all america has.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think the democrats think that abortion will be made a matter not protected by the federal government if someone who believes in the constitution, like Kavenaugh comes in.

So, yeah, I don't think the constitution protects the process of getting an abortion. And Democrats know it.

It's all about Roe vs Wade.

"Due process" doesn't apply because it's not a court.

That said, it's shocking how many people are okay with a fascist on the supreme court but only object to him because he's an entitled misogynist as well

[–]D45_B053 17 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

How's he a "fascist"? As far as I was aware, he's a conservative who leans more constitutionalist than usual...

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Everyone right of Bernie is a Facist, White Supremacist, Alt-Right Nazi.................

[–]D45_B053 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course, how could I forget?

[–]notacrackheadofficer -2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Noticing it and speaking about it means you are a rapist.

[+][deleted] -13 points-12 points-11 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

As far as I was aware, he's a conservative who leans more constitutionalist than usual...

Somebody who says that president is immune to prosecution and who thinks that abortion can be made illegal isn't a constitutionalist

[–]D45_B053 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not that I don't believe you, but do you have a source for those quotes?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Sources for either of those?

Kavanaugh is smart enough to know that even if (very small chance) Roe V. Wade is struck down, it just makes it a states decision, it does not make it illegal.

[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Sources for either of those?

I guess you don't get much American news in Russia

LOL ok. How come Liberals always go for character assassination instead of staying focused on the discussion?

Fair enough though he did argue for that, what about the Abortion point?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

LOL ok. How come Liberals always go for character assassination instead of staying focused on the discussion?

Snicker. The hypocrite lies about liberals in an example of character assassination.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Fine, not all liberals...Why do YOU do it?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Fine, not all liberals...Why do YOU do it?

Fascists always lie about liberals.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Clearly we are stuck in a circle here. You like calling people names because you can't get on the same level as them intellectually in order have an actual discussion.

Have a good evening!

[–]foot_kisser 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

a fascist on the supreme court

Stop trolling.

Thank you for sparking a series of replies that highlight how all public press regard this place as anti-feminist, alternative conservative, incel-themed, mass-shooter related, and so on. As reported since the Toronto shooting: BBC, CBC, Fox News, MSNBC, NBC, NPR, etc, etc.

Edit: lol they coincidentally removed this sticky thread after I pointed out how it exemplifies the general public's negative connotations.

"Due process" doesn't apply because it's not a court.

Well, I'll just let all those accused men in colleges across the US know that. No level of due process needed, since it's not a court.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And they don't get any due process, either, just presumption of guilt

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No level of due process provided, either.

[–]AnotherDAM 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

"Due process" doesn't apply because it's not a court.

This is a fallacy. The Constitution United States does not contain the phrase "these rights only apply to the Judicial Branch". Congress (either as separate bodies or together) cannot compel an individual to testify against themselves absent a grant of immunity. The Administrative Branch similarly cannot compel such testimony absent a grant of immunity or pardon. There are no Rights which are selective depending on which branch of government is exercising its authority with the exception as applied to individuals in prison or the military. And even then the Rights abridged are very specific in their application.

Much more importantly the Senate it selecting for an individual who will uphold the Constitution, so staying within the bounds of the Constitution might be an important consideration for the Senate to take.

It's a job application, not a criminal trial

[–]MahouShoujoLumiPnzr 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Due process" doesn't apply because it's not a court.

Whether or not an issue is strictly a legal one does not absolve you of the responsibility to uphold the standards of fair treatment that we derived due process from. If you don't want to do that, you're free to fuck off to some shithole that shares your (lack of) values.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Frankly we need a misogynist to equal out the misandrists in courts now.

[–]AnotherDAM 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Care to post your law degree for all of us to examine?

Who the fuck said Due Process, as enshrined in the Constitution and derivative laws, applies only to the Judicial Branch?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Who the fuck said Due Process, as enshrined in the Constitution and derivative laws, applies only to the Judicial Branch?

The United States Constitution, dumbass.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Due_Process_Clause

[–]AnotherDAM 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are going to need to do much, MUCH better than that. From your linked article:

The prohibitions, generally, of the due process clauses apply only to the actions of state actors, and not against private citizens.

"State actors" doesn't mean "Judiciary" it means every part of government or anyone acting on behalf of the government.

While the Judiciary is typically the branch which decides IF due process was breached all branches of government are subject to it.
