Another factor: if the police dismiss claims of abuse by a female complainant, or even just treat her claims with the slightest bit of skepticism, or maybe are a bit slow to follow up, or are a bit slack in their efforts ... then there's a chance the media could jump on the story and blow it up. Then there will suddenly be calls for police to be sacked all the way up the chain, potentially as far as the chief. In other words, not immediately believing and following up on accusations from a female complainant can easily costs cops their jobs.

But if the complainant is male... meh, no one cares.

That...doesn’t really happen much.

Err, hello? Perhaps you missed the entire last 5 years in the UK?

There was so much fuss over not enough men being convicted of rape that the Crown Prosecution Service and Police both had to bend the knee to the mob and promise a 70% increase in prosecutions regardless of the number of accusations.

As a result we got absurdities like the Mark Pearson trial and dozens of high-profile cases collapsing because police withheld evidence from the defence that exonerated the defendant, until they were forced to hand it over by the presiding judge.

The same thing often happens in the US too, but only ever based around female complainants. No one's career is ever threatened because ignored male victims.

I love dailymail so much for this. I wish others would do this

Police ignore all sorts of abuse and violence against men. They're trained to care more about women (along with socialization).

NAPALT?

Contrary to popular belief, no. I’ve arrested plenty of women for domestic assault. Even had one with a warrant for child support payment. Had to do a double take when that came up on the computer.

It is not simply a matter of unconscious bias. The guidance issued by the CPS locates Coercive and controlling behaviour as part of its violence against women and girls strategy, and states;

'Controlling or coercive behaviour is primarily a form of violence against women and girls and is underpinned by wider societal gender inequality.'

https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/controlling-or-coercive-behaviour-intimate-or-family-relationship

It goes on to use the fact that most prosecutions are of men and most victims in such cases are women as evidence that it is almost solely perpetrated by men. There is no understanding that arrest and prosecution decisions almost certainly reflect an underlying bias.
