There's a good documentary by Louis Theroux on this that you might want to check out, plys 'take your pills' which are both on Netflix. I'd also look into schools as a major vector for this.

Do away with recess so they can't burn off energy.

Do away with male teachers. They have presence like dad.

I have very conflicted feelings on the meds. I think had things like that been available to me 40 years ago, I could have functioned within the educational system much better. But I've managed without.

I have a son and a daughter with very similar situations. Very bright, with extreme difficulty paying attention. Which is about where I was, once upon a time.

Here's the difference: the school bent over backwards to help my daughter. Introduced many classroom interventions, eventually provided on site therapy. We went with meds after trying everything else.

With my son, recommending medication was the only thing the school was willing to do. They wanted meds without a medical diagnosis, they just wanted the problem to go away.

It was infuriating. Switch the genitals, and suddenly the school feels differently. It's overt and ubiquitous. One teacher casually mentioned that a third of the boys in the class was on meds. And thought that was about normal.
