It can happen...I got full custody of my daughter

[–]PM_ME_UR_PC_SPECS 147 points148 points149 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh, congrats

[–]TonyTGD 83 points84 points85 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks man.

[–]sknabcv2119 points 8 years ago [recovered] (18 children) | Copy Link

I got custody as well. I had to get stabbed and have emergency heart surgery and nearly die, but it happened

[–]LadySaberCat 53 points54 points55 points 8 years ago* (17 children) | Copy Link

Ummm did your ex literally stab you in the heart?

Please tell me she's in jail.

[–]sknabcv268 points 8 years ago [recovered] (15 children) | Copy Link

She stabbed me about a half inch to the right of my heart. Cut my right mammary artery and right mammary vein in half. This was last October and she is out on a 500 dollar bail and hasn't been indicted yet. I got the whole thing on video so id be surprised as all get out if she didn't go to jail eventually.

[–]LadySaberCat 23 points24 points25 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

So you have proof that she attacked for no reason but she could still walk anyway?

Smh 😢

[–]sknabcv220 points 8 years ago [recovered] (7 children) | Copy Link

Yeah its still a very real possibility. Even with the same criminal history and the same crime, women are 60% less likely to serve time. Thats a fact. The UK calls it progressive thinking. They don't call it that here in the US but it still happens. But the video is pretty cut and dry. I wasn't yelling at her, I didn't attack her. I didn't even appear to be aggresive in the slightest. She had just sliced her arm open and I didn't want her to kill herself. And she admitted to me herself that she was having a psychotic episode when it happened. But yeah, I don't think its likely, but I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't serve time at all. They never even put her in jail for it and I can't help but think, if I had stabbed her, I wouldn't be able to type this message out right now. There is a massive double standard in the court systems. They're inherently geared towards women in almost every case. Not to say that women don't face different challenges in other areas, but thats one area that radical feminists don't like to admit they have much more power.

[–]LadySaberCat 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Episode or not, if this was the other way around you'd be in prisons facing attempted murder charges and that's no exaggeration there. For all the talk people make these days of changing the laws and actually being fair and just I've yet to see that.

but thats one area that radical feminists don't like to admit they have much more power.

And they never will, they'll say otherwise until the bitter in. I hope you are able to keep custody of your children however.

[–]sknabcv27 points 8 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

Oh you're definitely right. And it really gets me riled up thinking about it. Its injustice and nothing gets me angrier than injustice. But becuase I'm a man ill be told to stop whining. Feminists will mock me and talk about "male tears". Its so one sided. Women face challenges in this world due to their gender and men do to. I'm not saying its equal or that one side is worse than the other. But shitty treatment of one gender doesn't make shitty treatment of the other any less important.

[–]LadySaberCat 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

But shitty treatment of one gender doesn't make shitty treatment of the other any less important.

Try telling a "normal" Feminist that. Egalitarians(or at least the ones I know) noticed that everything Feminists do these days isn't for equality or crushing the "Patriarchy" it's for power. As much power as possible and damn anyone who gets in their way especially men. The movement itself has shown repeatedly how apathetic they are towards the real plights of men and boys. Why would they stop now?

[–]sknabcv22 points 8 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

I agree 100%. If I had been alive in the 60s and 70s I would have called myself a feminist no problem. But this version of feminism. This post modern, women first, communism-by-another-name shit SJW type feminism is not about equality in the slightest. Its about raising women and POC up above white males. Its racist and sexist and I can't get behind it. I'm all for equality of opportunity. 100%. But these feminists want equality of outcome. Its extreme authoritarianism and I refuse to abide by it.

[–]LadySaberCat1 point 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

They don't even want equality anymore anyhow, they want absolute supremacy pure and simple.

[–]sknabcv22 points 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

You're right. Whats sad is though, the majority of feminists don't agree with those extremists views, its just the loudest and most extreme feminists make the biggest splashes in the pool. So now, when most people think of feminism, its that brand that they think of. They're actively harming their own movement.

[–]LadySaberCat1 point 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

The movement, I mean the true and well meaning aspect of the movement, died a long time ago. What we see today, the 4th or 5th wave of Feminism is built upon the need to subjugate men and any woman who doesn't kowtow to the narrative that she's oppressed because Hooters exists. The movement today doesn't want to help anyone, it simply serves to support only those who strictly adhere to it's current requirements. The majority of the people I associate with that support equality are Egalitarians or Humanists rather than Feminists and frankly I don't blame them or anyone else for wanting absolutely nothing to do with what's left of the movement.

[–]Gathorall 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Tried to kill him, not just attack.

[–]LadySaberCat 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]PJsutnop 54 points55 points56 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]The__Tren__Train 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Dembara 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

People here often seem to forget a lot of it is case by case. It happens rather often, numerically. The thing, in many places (some areas are better and others worse) it is still very much stacked one way, by default. Luckily, there are many judges who have some common sense and decency. Unfortunately, there are others who do not.

[–]the_unseen_one 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It happens rather often, numerically

And virtually never, percentage wise.

[–]the_unseen_one 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Some people win the lottery too. Doesn't really change the facts, but congrats anyways.

[–]TonyTGD 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I didn't win the lottery....I planned a strategy that resulted in me getting the best outcome for my child.

[–]the_unseen_one 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You won the lottery in terms that your plan worked. You're hardly the only man who pulled out all the stops trying to be with their children, except most fail despite that.

[–]IHopeShesEighteen 73 points74 points75 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This really hit home with me. I just got back from trying to talk it out with my ex one last time and it didn’t go well. I really hope my judge has a heart, because I need my son more. He’s my best friend.

[–]PM_ME_UR_PC_SPECS 41 points42 points43 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]IHopeShesEighteen 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Thank you. I’ll pray.

[–]votebleach2020 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From what I've read on r/legaladvice and this subreddit you can't argue from your standpoint. However idiotic and outdated the legal system's assumptions are, it's designed to create the best outcome for the child. You need to argue to the court why it's in your child's best interest that they spend more time with you. Don't talk about your ex, unless of course you have damning evidence of her being neglectful, and don't talk about yourself.

[–]Jamescurtis 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ill give you some advice here, stop praying and get to work.

my current situation is full custody and child support from my ex

  1. save all communications between the two of you, some of that will turn out to be pure gold.

  2. try to leave a paper trail of your actions, so you can prove that you tried to settle the custody as an adult

  3. write everything down, your interactions, what your kid said, everything, after years of battle things will muddy and you'll be happy you can reread what happend exactly.

  4. think 3 times before talking/texting/mailing everything can and will be used against you but the good part is that this also works both ways (see 1.)

  5. ALWAYS ALWAYS for the love of all that is holy stay calm and respectfull towards the court and even your ex. If you dont then this WILL be used against you. i saw too people in the same situation run their mouth in front of a judge and get demolished.

good luck to all fathers!

[–]PsychedSy 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As an addition, be prepared for none of your preparation to work. Sometimes the judge just doesn't care.

[–]3-10 65 points66 points67 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I wish...ex is a 2 time felon and a liar who made up stories of abuse and here I am $12k in debt for it and only have my daughter 2 days a week to show for it.

Thank you. Kids are doing great, they're happy, doing well in school, eating healthy for a change. They don't miss their mom much due to her being such an horrible woman(this isn't due to being alienated however) who didn't have their best interests in mind.

[–]tenchineuro 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A happy healthy family, what more can you ask for (except them spending less time playing League of Legends or playing on the phone).

How did he get full custody? That's pretty difficult with family courts being as they are.

[–]AlphaOmegaSith 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How did he get full custody? That's pretty difficult with family courts being as they are.

My uncle and his wife helped him find a good lawyer plus he had plenty of evidence of her treatment of the kids and himself. We have no idea why he married that broad in the first place because it was known that she was a scumbag from day one. She was at my other cousin's wedding before the divorce and she was asked to leave after she tried to start a fight with a random member of the bride's family because she "thought" she rolled her eyes at her. But they were together for 11-years and had three kids(9, 7 and 6) and they weren't doing well with their mother at all. Hell she already had one kid she lost custody of(father isn't in the picture as he passed away after a car crash) because she abandoned her for two months. She's about 13 now and even she has better sense than her mother, she would often come over and visit her half siblings after her mom took them after my cousin said he was leaving her. She's the one that got the cops involved after seeing the conditions they were living in; barely any food, few changes of clothes and used needles in their mother's dresser and other questionable things. She attacked my cousin with a firepoker on two occasions and the only reason he didn't hit her back is because he's a tall guy(6'5, tattooed and muscular) and his ex is a 5'2 skinny blonde so you know how that scenario would've gone if he had so much as shoved her. The used needles, the two instances of assault, abandoning one kid, the neglect of the other three, her outburst at the police station after her oldest daughter called the cops, her drug use and some other stuff that wasn't officially made public is what cost her custody. Plus she's heading to jail for about a year after some unrelated shit that she did after losing custody. She's a narcissistic manipulative parasite who shouldn't be having kids but at least her kids turned out good. The 7-year old is the one with special needs(he's got a spinal issue the name escapes me at the moment) and he has difficulty walking so he needs crutches and with his dad he's finally getting the care he needs.

Female judges Always giv favour to women

[–]Halafax 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The system is very biased toward mothers in general. I've sometimes heard that female judges/magistrates are somewhat more fair toward fathers, but I suspect that's going to be unique to each interaction.
