Honestly, a lot of this is trying to thread around the real issue only to devolve into the same stuff it always does: trying to treat the symptoms rather than the cause.

Incels are largely a result of boys being brought up with the mindset of the boomer population, together with some "be nice" sauce. Do your work, be a good boy, be good in school, get everything done and you'll live a nice life. If it wasn't obvious yet, this hasn't worked out for a significant number of millennials and gen Z. They saw their parents divorce at higher rates. They see themselves having immense troubles in the labor market. They see their milestones delayed year after year, as housing becomes more expensive, education takes longer, careers take longer to get going whilst requiring much more knowledge and skills than before, and more. Only those who have inherited significant opportunities and/or wealth are keeping up.

Then we have diet and lifestyle. As much as an introvert I am, a lifestyle lacking physical activity with a diet filled to the brim with sugars and carbs, lacking in saturated fats and protein, is perfect for making a weak, incapable person. Its an uphill battle to get moderate strong like one's ancestors, though the barrier is mostly mental these days rather than an actual limitation (it's not hard to invest time and some money in proper food). If it wasn't obvious yet: blindly taking dietary advice from current-day media is stupid and will set the majority up for failure.

Finally, add mass media. Like farming, shares, retweets, whatever. All of it puts everyone capable of understanding the context in competition with one another. Turns out, if you are a woman, it is much easier to farm likes just with your body. And apparently, it is stupidly addictive, to the point of making the addicted people dysfunctional. This is something both sexes have, but is easier to achieve for women. This escalates into the dating market, where the receivers of all that attention can no longer separate "validation" with "real relationship", and "hookup" with "marriage material".

This is where Red Pill comes in first. They admit that society has been teaching boys the wrong things, and set them up for failure. They tell boys "that online validation stuff ain't shit, bitches be high on shares and likes". They don't beat around the bush and tell guys exactly how messed up the system is. Red Pill does not provide a societal answer: it provides an individual one. "Screw everyone, accept me and we'll get you whatever we can get out of it". That's what it distills into. It's an answer quite fitting towards a society continuing to reward psychopathic tendencies.

Incels are in part an extension of that, or even a realization of that. Many try TRP, PUA and the likes, and fail. Several are truly born in a way that doesn't make them attractive, and in a market filled with alternatives in eye candy, they fall to side. Many of them see the rewards, and go "that's it? I have to do all that work for a hint of romance, go through all that risk, and this is what I get?". It's a combination of biological truths, bro science, personal anecdotes and cold reality, and it quickly spirals into victimhood and learned helplessness.

Modern dating, modern romance, all the hoops a guy has to go through, all the deprogramming one has to do onto himself. It all is fucked up. At best, I can fault most self-pronounced incels for continuing to whine about it rather than just retreating to video games in their entirety and giving society the finger, like the Japanese hikikomori are doing. To stop pedestalizing women, which they still end up doing when they lash out (negative attention is still attention). The cards truly are stacked against them. Society continues to gaslight them into thinking it isn't. Oligarchies continue to profit by selling them "the one product" that will get them the girl.

Heck, no one is even really listening to them. Most people are just observing them, giving their "professional" opinion, or telling them they are privileged and they should shut up. Media barely highlights them as a response to a messed up society and female entitlement, only as a source of male entitlement. Meanwhile, these guys still have to watch media spout the same feminist crap and "women are wonderful" narrative day after day. When again did not letting someone speak and shoving their nose into a different perspective/narrative work, ever?

Explanation: I got the mods' permission to post before doing so. I'm a journalist who interviews completely different types of people each week for my podcast On the Edge with Andrew Gold. This week, I found Naama Kates, a journalist who has been investigating the incel world. Of course, I am aware the incel world isn't 'men's rights' - but I thought some members might find it interesting.

I try to stay as neutral as possible, because I have to be aware of my audience, who are quite 'general'. I'd be interested in your thoughts, but please in a polite and respectful manner, one that recognises this is new territory for me. The mod with whom I spoke said I may have 'poisoned the well' at the beginning, which is probably fair - so I just want you to know that wasn't my intention! I think she gives a fascinating insight into a community I knew nothing about.
