The first question actually came into my mind for a different reason: how do the waves of posts, likes and reactions work in this sub, and what is the connection with the timezones of where everything lives? And then I thought: we may suppose the majority lives in North America, but is that really the case? Only then I thought: discussions sometimes get derailed, is that because men-women-relationships and issues around power and oppression are so different in different countries? So I thought that worthwhile to ask. And the answers may be interesting anyway.

As some people have noticed before, I live in the Netherlands; probably one of the most feminist countries in the world. Where in other countries complaints of women about unwanted male attention may be bitter or more moderate, as far as I know the Netherlands are the only country where foreign women complain about too little male attention, as in the French book 'l' Anti-macho' by Sophie Perrier, and this blog. https://amsterdamming.com/2017/06/25/how-living-in-amsterdam-is-killing-the-woman-in-me/ . (Just the same, Dutch feminists stick to the narrative of 'unbearable harassment'.) Also, people fighting identity politics, like the pretentious Vrij Links (free left) just stick to oppression of women, gays and minorities within ethnic groups, and flatly refuse to adress feminism, except the intersectional part of it. Even rightist xenophobes often play the gays-and-women-card to prove their point. In other words: criticism of feminism is virtually absent, as is any men's movement.

On the other hand, unmarried fathers have more authority over their children than in many other countries, as unmarried couples are rather normal here and used to be even more so at the end of last century. I also think there is better protection against dirty and dangerous work here than in America, though I don't have the facts ready. And we didn't participate in many wars, though also here there are Srebeniça and Afghanistan veterans with PTSD. But when you go to a restaurant with a girl, except in very traditional circles, you don't have to pay the whole bill. The Netherlands apparently even are infamous for that.
