Police academy, late 70's. We had 50/50 male/female recruits. To graduate, you had to complete an aerobic course in a minimum time and be able to climb a 6=foot wall. Unless you were a female. They would sit on their fat arses and smoke cigarettes while the men would be busting our asses to complete the course. Later on, I got bashed by a big drunk guy while the female partner locked herself in the patrol car.

I worked a warehouse/retailing job. Essentially all the men were expected to do all the heavy lifting, yard work (freezing cold), climb ladders, pull of deliveries off waggons, drive the forklift, sort pallets... Everything.

The women didn't do shit. Many of them were 'too cold' to even work in the warehouse and would hide in the office or shop floor not doing their job.

One woman got hired to be our boss. Couldn't hack it in the warehouse so stopped turning up for work. Guess what? They promoted her to a different role.

I was a Developer at an IT company. I took 2 weeks off work, during those 2 weeks I grew a beard.

Upon returning to work, the Project Manager (A woman) got up from her desk, walked up to my desk, pointed at my beard and angrily demanded "get rid of that" and walked back to her desk.

Her body language and demeaner was that of a little girl who didn't get her way.

large organisation, needed to cut back on staff. "male dominated" industry so the department was 4 women and 10 men. 6 were made redundant leaving 4 women and 4 men. One of the women got promoted to Senior. I was a consultant and she called me "what happened to Bob?" I inquired, "oh, made redundant, we really need this problem fixed"

Got the job and arrived, needed to be re-inducted at the site. Half the induction was all about women in non-traditional roles. "men and women" was now written "women and men' and "she/he". Needed to do the gender equality/sexual harassment/etc training.

The mood in the department had gone from a technical problem solving mood to just one of bitchiness and arse covering

Had a co-worker working on another machine 30 feet away dress me down for something retarded. I was standing next to another machine she was responsible for when the maintenance manager walked up and asked me why the machine wasn't running. I answered because I knew. She was 30 feet away, and decided to make a thing about it. "Next time you tell him to go ask the operator (her). I said WTF would I do that? it would be easier to answer the question. And her response? "You're a man, you wouldn't understand."
