Why do people think men are emotional robots or is it just my perspective?

Because most of the time, we have to be. They tell us to be open, they laugh when we do. They tell us to express our anger, they cower when we do. They tell us it's ok to cry, they break out the men's tears mugs

I think it's because many women are attracted to men who are leaders. A leader does not show vulnerability. As such, a lot of men try to hide their emotions to make themselves attractive. This in turn creates the expectation that men are almost less human.

Of course there are also many other factors that play into this. Historically, many men have been raised to fight. Because of this, I think people have taught men to repress their emotion to nurture a personality which is able to kill.

It depends on who you're talking to, if it's on reddit, this is gaslighting and it's not normal to react to people this way. They're idiots that think they're clever enough to play therapist and psycho-analyse people but in reality they're just manipulative sociopaths trying to make men doubt themselves into submitting to them. Though mind you I would say this still applies in real life, it depends on what social circles you hang out with.

Relationships with women have always been, and will always be, about trying to seem perfect to them, and being just the right amount of flawed is part of that.

Women DO want men to open up. They just want it to be a guy who is extremely muscular and handsome, they want it to be about a deep issue like their father disappearing when they were a kid, but not as deep as being molested, and they want it to be a secret that they haven't opened up to others about, and when they say it's okay to cry what they mean is they want one really handsome tear to fall down your cheek as you look off into the distance.

The further you deviate from their ideal romance novel/movie in that regard the less attracted to you they are, but they'll still prop you up like a public performance piece to show other men that they need to be more like women because patriarchy, but no they won't date you.

Certain gender studies groups need men to cry as readily as women because to them gender is a social construct and under those terms either men are wrong for not crying as readily as women or women are wrong for crying more readily than men, also, to them, women can’t ever be wrong! So, instead of acknowledging that gender isn’t a social construct they slander men as dysfunctional women.

I remember once at work I was having a REALLY bad day. Shit happened at home, my dog died recently, my car broke down, my love life was shit, and I didn't particularly like my job at the time. So I was talking to one of my male coworkers about it; ya know just venting. Then one of my female coworkers blurted into our conversation laughing at me and calling me a bitch. I wasn't crying or even really showing genuine emotion, just saying exactly what has been happening to me. I feel like this is one reason why men don't show emotion much: becuase when they do women use it as a weapin agaisnt them. Think about it, if you saw a man crying you would automatically think he's weak. Not that his mom died, or his ex won't let him see his kids anymore. No. You see a weak man. That is society's fault.
