Feminism and girl power being "shoved in your face" and "forced" in movies and TV is not a new thing. Why are people acting like it is? If you type in feminist anime on google, you'll come up with tons of results and feminist themes in anime aren't always subtle.

Except that's not feminism, that's just good character writing. That's like saying that many of the oft cited 'strong, independent female' movies like Kill Bill or Terminator are feminist films because they feature powerful and confident women. A movie becomes feminist when it hijacks a franchise to showcase women, or deliberately rubs it's women-centric nature in the viewers face with intent to broach a political point.

Also, you missed the key pint that anime is often inherently fetishistic. Women are showcased and played up because that's a good way to move merchandise for horny weebs, which is blatantly the most nonfeminist thing ever.

Also, Avatar isn't an anime.

A prime example of this is the original Charlie's Angels movie and then the recent remake.

I remember that episode of Avatar. Yeah it's pretty woke and overly simplistic, as a lot of the first season can be, but it's surrounded by great character stuff, it's not the only thing going on. It's still a far cry from a lot of modern media where every male is a chauvanistic idiot, every woman is a smart, tough, witty expert who's constantly underestimated and always comes out on top and constantly belittles men while going on about girl power. Notice how Katara wasn't able to defeat the experienced master just to show Girlpower. How not every guy in the episode was chauvanistic or stupid, how it was balanced with the other stories and tied back to the character's pasts, worldbuilding, character development. Yeah, overly simplistic woke bullshit has been in media for decades, but it IS getting worse.

This is disingenuous.Anime characters don't push state policies against men,don't promote affirmative actions an quotas,don't produce ads and articles in mainstream media against men. Nobody before and after an anime show tried to shove feminist propaganda on our throat and sought the divide men and women .Anime are entertainment and everybody knows that anime characters are for fun only and have no bad repercussion on men lives.

Anime is decisively not feminist at all. The western examples you used try to indoctrinate women to believe they can supplant a man in the roles they occupy in a serious tone with no element of this is just entertainment. In anime they always have an element of this is a product or entertainment and not to be taken as a doctrine to follow in life like akame ga kill always has silly moments mixed in with the serious moments. Attack on Titan made a parody series to meme the shit out of thier series pretty much based on the jokes the fans made
