It stays free — no paywall, no account — for the next man who comes looking, the way it was free for you.

Owens found, to her surprise, that boys were more likely to be suspended, expelled, or held back a year than girls, even when they had the same behavior problems.

Lol "to her surprise". Clearly she hasn't seen the prison sentence disparity. Men get harsher punishments than women, how is it surprising that boys get harsher punishments than girls?

Girls, on average, started out with better social and emotional skills than boys, but that only explained part of the gap. How schools disciplined boys and girls mattered more.

Gosh, do you think that might also be from gender bias?

Why wouldn't we assume that "most girls start out with better social and emotional skills," because mothers treat their sons and daughters differently from birth?

karen straughan mentioned a study in which the researchers measured the time parents took until they started comforting their infants after they started crying. Unsurprisingly, the parents took significantly longer (a minute, iirc) when the infant was a boy.

finds that boys start kindergarten with fewer of the behaviors that teachers want — such as paying attention, controlling emotions and playing nice with others

Translation: Boys are not as keen on blind obedience as girls are.
