This seems to be partly because people think rape is a man thing, so if a woman rapes someone it must be because she "suffering" from some kind of psychosis. Men are demonized, women are diagnosed

don’t get me started on the comment that said “women go through worse, let them have a get-out-of-free cars once in a while” and how the title of the article is not using the word rape AND is using a picture of the girl smiling, make her seem like a damaged sweet girl who made a mistake because she has mental issues. this double standard is disgusting.
