Feminist ideas about sex and consent are inconsistent. They push the idea that so long as sex between two people is consensual, then sex is of little importance and should be viewed as two people shaking hands or healthily engaging in exercise together. Yet they also believe that the second any kind of sexual act turns less than 100% enthusiastically consensual, it becomes the worst most traumatizing event ever, worse than murder.

The first position is comparable to giving someone a dollar. Because a dollar is not expensive or important I can choose to give it to someone else easily. No one will judge me giving away to multiple people something which has so little value. If someone steals it from me, it might be a bit rude, I might be a little annoyed, but it's really not a big deal at all. If you tried to bring someone to court for stealing one dollar from you, you'd be laughed at.

The second position is comparable to giving away a million dollars. If someone steals it, or tries to steal it, or makes the smallest introductory step to steal it, it's a big deal with huge repercussions and can be easily taken to court. But even if I wanted to give it to a friend, totally consensually, it's still a big deal, it's not something anyone would do without seriously considering the matter beforehand.

Feminists believe consensual sex should be viewed like giving someone a dollar, but if you try to steal that dollar, then the courts should punish you as if you've stolen a million bucks. Totally fair, right?

I noticed something like that a very long time ago. They wish for rape to simultaneously include things like unenthusiastic sex, or being pressured into sex after one sip of vodka, but also have that be treated as the most serious kind of assault. The insanity gets revealed when you look at the dividing line between sex and rape: Brownmiller says that rape is a crime of violence in which the penis is just the choice of weapon-- this is foundational to the feminist view of rape-- but when a couple are having consensual sex and the woman changes her mind in the middle of the act, that's now a rape, even though the man clearly didn't have violence on his mind. They wish to have it every which way: a jaywalking offense ought to be regarded, as you said, as worse than murder.

The fact that no one has ever attempted to tell me I'm incorrect about the above characterization makes me think that it's a valid observation. Except to perhaps tell me that Brownmiller's claims about rape are no longer useful when it comes to inflating cases of rape to cover mundane things like consent after one drink. Okay, but still the observation stands: bad sex after wine doesn't really sound like a capital offense.

And saying something like "don't fuck people you don't know very well" is a terribly misogynistic thing, as well. Lil' Miss Drunken Idiot doesn't want to feel like a drunken idiot after doing drunken idiot things, so we all have to gasp at the monster who victimized Lil' Miss Drunken Idiot so that she can feel free to continue doing her signature drunken idiot things without fear of, yanno, any unpleasant results of drunken idiocy.

It's obvious why this insanity has come to pass: in a sexual free-for-all, women tend to regret things more. But we cannot restrict women's behavior-- that would make Lil' Miss Drunken Slut feel bad-- so Lil' Miss Drunken Slut needs to see men punished punished punished if some rough cad rubs her the wrong way.
