Male or female lawyer ?

A good lawyer. Gender is irrelevant.

I'd prefer to believe that it shouldn't matter. But based on my personal experience I'm not sure that that's always true.

My first attorney was female. She was pleasant, but she left a critical piece of language out of the agreement which resulted in my paying alimony for several years longer than I should have had to.

My second attorney was also female. When I gave her the initial retainer, she gave me a very encouraging talk about how she would be very responsive and aggressive in her pursuit of my case. I never heard from her again. She literally did nothing for at least a year and a half. Didn't respond to my emails or phone calls, and when I went to her office they always said that she was out.

Later I looked her up online. Turns out that she is a great, aggressive lawyer who always goes the extra mile, according to her female clients. According to her male clients she talks a good game, takes your retainer, and then you never hear from her again.

My third attorney was (and is) male. He told me that when my second attorney passed on my paperwork to him, she told him that I was a problem client and very difficult. He was shocked at her unprofessionalism in that regard. You'll have to take my word for this, but I did my damnedest to be a very good client. I didn't try to contact her more than once a week, even if I didn't hear back from her. I was absolutely obliging and made no demands. She literally did nothing for my case, and it still took me more than a year and a half to replace her.

Anyway, my male lawyer has been doing a good job. The case is still dragging along after 5 years, but I think that's more because of my ex and her husband then anything my lawyer has done. At least he has tried.

My lawyer is female, and doing a good job for me and the children. So much so, my stbxw fired her first lawyer, and her second one is MIA. I agree with the statement that gender doesn't matter most of the time, but I also believe a good female lawyer can see the BS in a way only a woman can, from another woman.

I had a female and I think she was better. It was like she could read my exes mind. I think only women can truly understand how devious other women can be. Think of high school girls. They are so cruel to eachother. Just as an example, women are often mad at men for over-sexualing them, but in reality it is not men that want women to wear make-up or be sexy. We find them sexy regardless. The pressure is coming from other women! Women are hard on eachother.

I digress, you realistically want the attorney that is good, and gender doesn’t matter much. You want them to know the judge. They need to know how the judge will rule given various scenarios.
