New girl at my office came about 5 months ago. I didn't think anything of it but we occasionally saw eachother in the halls and exchanged quick pleasantries. Eventually we started talking about what we did on weekends and gradually took our conversations to our desks through chat. About a month in, I asked her to grab drinks with me one weekend. We met up and after a hours/drinks I told her that I was having a ton of fun and would really like to see her again to get to know her better. I guess that immediately came off as "i want to date you." She mentioned she broke up with her ex of 4 years, and that she knows I had just broken up with my ex 2 months ago (same time as her). I laughed and admitted she was right.

She said "Why can't we be friends first? Why do we need to go straight into dating? I want things to go slow."

Fair -- given that we are fresh out of serious relationships, I agreed. She also mentioned her "rule" of not dating someone she works with... but I think she's entertaining it because we rarely see eachother in the office (its a big office). The rest of the night was a little weird. She told me she wants to take things slow but immediately after this conversation, she got a bit more touchy and we spent the night holding hands as we walked around the city and talked before heading into different bars.

I ask her to hang out a few more times but she gives me a half assed "maybe" so I act quite irrationally and excommunicate her lol. We don't speak for maybe 2 months -- just casual banter in the office like when we first started.

Fast forward a few weeks. She texts me and demands that I facetime her.... I was on a date and told her I'd call her later. It was late, around 3am, when she texted me. I call her around 3:30 and we speak for a little over an hour. Since then, we have called eachother on occasion. She calls me randomly, I call her randomly, and we just chat.

Last week, I ask her to dinner. She says yes. We go out for dinner and have a round of drinks. We have tons of fun. We really do get along very well -- it always feels like we're old friends catching up. I ask if she's ready to head home... she wants to go to another spot for a quick drink. It's cold so on our way to the next spot she clings onto me and we interlock arms and make our way over. At the bar she demands I take pictures with her and makes comments about us being cute together. I pull out my lipbalm but she takes hers out and applies it on my lips for me. We laugh and I guess I took this as a sign to kiss her... I lean in and she pulls back with a little smirk. I smiled and said sorry... and we continued to talk about life. We leave the bar... same thing. arms interlocked and head to the subway. we wait for our train and she mentions how much she loves my scent, and buries her head into my chest. We wait for the train for about 5minutes hugging.

I try to engage in conversation via text but she's very short... she's hot in person, but super cold via text. She might not be much of a texter...?

tl;dr - I've known this girl for almost 6 months now and we've gone on 2 dates... should I even consider this as someone who's interested in seeing this through? Is she just a friend who's very comfortable with me? Is she just flirting/playing with me? She wants to take things slow. She mentioned she doesnt want to fall for guys who just say sappy shit to her and make broken promises. she doesnt want to make that mistake again. Is she just trying to see if i'm real? could really use some advice on how to tread here... would it be aggressive to ask her if she's ready to see where this is going romantically? how long do you need to be "Friends" with someone before you decide to move over to romantic-potential?
