Unprovoked 'one punch' attacks are now subject to harsh penalties in Australia unless the perpetrator is a woman in which case she gets off with a small fine as usual.

I feel like I’ve seen this website before— who owns it?

[–]rbrockway[S] 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

A Voice for Men? I do.

Your stuff is pretty rad. I’ve read it before— there’s a spelling error/typo in this article, but it’s the first time I’ve noticed a flaw.

[–]rbrockway[S] 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

On behalf of the team, thanks.

BTW here is a picture of some of the team at ICMI16. Paul Elam was running the show in those days. I'm on the far right. A few faces have changed since then of course but we don't get together physically very often.

What's the error/typo? I can fix it.

[–]CrowMagpie 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm on the far right.

Given the nature of this sub, I completely misread that for a while. :D

[–]rbrockway[S] 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

LOL. I didn't even make the connection when I wrote that. Oh no, someone is going to quote-mine me now. :)

FWIW I used to call myself left but don't anymore as I'm too disgusted with what the left has become. I could be described as a classical liberal.

Oh no, someone is going to quote-mine me now. :)

You know it! :)

I've never called myself either left or right; but what I have said is, the more I hear from the left, the further right I lean.

Aron Burr instead of Aaron Burr.

When you post your articles on here, can you include a quip about what the article is about? I think it’d draw in more readers.

Aron Burr

Thanks, fixed.

Nbd— shit happens.

Your stuff is pretty rad.

I visit AV4M pretty often. I like the content, but find the way it's expressed to be pretty wordy sometimes.

Thank you for your posts and your website. Your effort and dedication is greatly appreciated. Somehow you snuck under my radar, but your profile appears to be painted orange with my up votes.

Oh my God! Research shows to have found as X what they've defined as X.

What a shocker!

It's also extremely anti-Muslim, but that seems to never be the focus either.

If one were a gambling man, it almost seems like the absence of the Muslim focus is due to how a segment of the men's rights sphere are also ultra conservative (which is its own issue, but that's a different issu), and they don't want to he reminded that they in fact have more in common with liberals than not.

[–]Visible_Juice_4204 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

There are also many queers and athiests on this sub - both of which are often victims on Islamic extremists. Also, if the people on here are as ultra conservative as you say, that should mean they would be more friendly towards the Muslims. This isn't the 2000's anymore, and personally Ive noticed a disturbing trend of both evangelicals and neocons teaming up with Muslims in the last couple years.

[+]Marty-the-monkey -8 points-7 points-6 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

In what world has conservatives expressed being more friendly to Muslims in the Western world?

I have seen neither of the groups you mentioned wanting anything to do with Muslims or their culture. I've seen plenty of them condemn Muslims though.

Also, I said a segment of the sub, specifically.

Conservatives in many western countries are actively trying to court them for votes, successfully too i might add. Theyve taken over a couple voting regions in Ontario for sure.

Personally, I dont see how its a bad thing to condemn a colonialist ideology that glorifies violent oppression though. 🤷‍♂️

[+]Marty-the-monkey -7 points-6 points-5 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I havnt seen any conservatives trying to court a single Muslim. Quite the opposite I've seen in spades, wanting to outlaw them and throw all Muslims "back to where they came"...

That's where the dilemma of the post comes into play and makes the issue more complex than what the OP is presenting as simple anti-men

[–]Visible_Juice_4204 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I havnt seen any conservatives trying to court a single Muslim.

And Ive never seen a durian fruit, guess that means they dont exist.

Edit for the pudding: https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/hassan-the-muslim-vote-will-play-a-role-in-the-election-but-how

Also OP is simply focusing on one talking point because it often gets skipped over. Talking about this single point does not take away from the overall complexity of the issue.

My comment also said that I have seen the opposite happen quite a lot, so thank you for pick and choosing aspects, since the two statements go together.

So indeed I can say that it seems hard to believe it existing when the opposite is observed in abundance. It's not just an absence, but the opposite.

Despite this, the Liberals still hold an edge on claims to deliver Muslims equal rights and more inclusive participation in Canadian society. This perception that Liberals are generally good for Muslims will be hard to dislodge in the coming weeks.

Your article even agree with the suggestion that conservatives aren't particularly pro-muslim even if just perceived.

Thats just your personal experience. Not real data.

Your article even agree with the suggestion that conservatives aren't particularly pro-muslim even if just perceived.

Wow good ol marty the monkey twisting words again. Shocking. Its even says in your quote. An edge. Which implies the split is mostly even. Also considering the Liberals recent outing as a bedfellow to China, ill be surprised if they hold on to that edge. But thats another story.

[–]Marty-the-monkey -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You didn't show any data either, but only an article that didn't really support your claim other than saying the Muslim vote was important.

On the other hand, you can find countless hours of 'new' on Fox condemning Muslims or Trump doing the same, so I still havnt seen any evidence that conservatives are in fact trying to court the Muslims.

Hell there's even stories of the one Muslim congress women should be thrown out for the act of being Muslim.
