So first of all I am not American and I live in Europe, so my situation may be a bit different legally.
Unfortunately for me, even that I am from a country of the European Union, I live and am married (still but in process) in another country of the EU. However one much more to East. I don't want to go on too much details to not offend anyone, but if you read between the lines you may get some clues :)
Anyway we are clearly going for a huge fight. One of the reasons is because she believes that since I am a foreigner, and this country is very Pro-Mother, she has all the cards in her hands and I should just bend over. However, while I just want to move on with my life and go to a "place" (not literally, just mentally & emotionally) we have two sweet sweet young boys. Which I am very much fighting to remain in their life as an active parent, and not as a "part time visitor one".
Part of that problem is that - and it is entirely my fault for being an over trusting idiot, if this would be GoT, I would be a Stark and end up dead at a Red Wedding, no jokes - she has a much bigger ownership of the house and she is refusing to talk patrimony on the process (dealing with the divorce itself first, and the kids - and then if i want, I can file a second process for the patrimony her lawyer said). Which is part of the plan to "bend" me. Making see that if i fight too much, it will cost me a lot of money.
So now comes my question. How do you guys deal with this new uncertainty?
I am still young-ish I would say. 36 years olds. Good job, I was a software Engineer, I am currently a Manager for some years now. But my life was on "track" financially. Good salary, I am not a huge spender, don't care about fancy brands or cars, credit of the house was on its way - only 6 more years to go.
Now I am back at spending a shit load in rent, because I took a place close to the house, to still be present for the kids. Still paying my half of the credit. Not sure for how long. Not sure when i would see the money from her buying my shares of the house. Or which shares. Or even of all the content.
No idea how much the judge will give for alimony, even that i would really love (and pray) to get my freaking 50-50 time share with my kids.
And I am like "Should just focus on right now, saving some money, to pay the lawyer and court, see how it goes and then later make a plan to buy something else in a couple of years?" or should i already make plans to rebound and buy something sooner?
Need some advices here guys. And thank you, in advance.
