Some years ago, feminists and misandrists gleefully promoted a study supposedly proving that women suffer more stress from their husbands than from their kids. Did anyone ever check whether men felt the same regarding their wives and kids?

I think the study may have even been technically correct, but it's meaningless without checking whether the same is true in the opposite direction (i.e., whether men were more stressed by their wives than by their kids), and the presentation of the study in the popular press was extremely one-sided and bigoted.

I believe relationships between adults in general are more stressful than relationships between adults and their children, since the former involve confronting complex, high-stress adult situations together and are fraught with high expectations to a much greater degree than relationships between adults and their children. I get the impression that the authors of the study (or the people who presented the study in the popular press with their own spin) reached a conclusion about adult-adult relationships versus adult-child relationships that would have been universally true regardless of gender, but nevertheless decided wrongfully to gender the study for ideological reasons.

I would have loved to have seen a study exploring this issue with a balanced approach from the perspective of both men and women in regard to their partners and children. Instead we got malicious, clickbaity hack pieces insinuating that men are immature burdens on the women in their lives.
