I had an intimate relationship with a female in my college class. We never dated, but at a public outing she punched me in the face multiple times because I was talking to another girl and then stalked me to my home. She started telling people I was touching her and she acted in self defense. At this point, I wanted documentation of the incident so I went to the police. In my state, if we were deemed domestic, she would automatically get arrested and go to court.

At the time, we both lied about our domestic relationship because 1. I didn’t want any legal headache at the time 2. I just wanted the documentation 3. This girl is crazy and I was legit scared. We graduate in one year and I just wanna get my degree and GTFO. So, once we were clear of the domestic side of things, I declined to charge her with assault. I then took the police report, security footage, and text messages after the fact (“I’ll hit you again”, “I’d do it again”) and gave it to my university.

It’s been three months and I haven’t heard anything. I met with the Title IX coordinator and she was VERY aggressive. She was trying to strong arm me into admitting out domestic relationship (which was very obvious despite both of denying it). I kept denying because I already gave that statement to the police.

I go to a VERY liberal, female dominated university (I’m outnumbered 40:1). It turned co-Ed 5 years ago. Part of me thinks denying our domestic relationship is better for me because there’s less room for her to make false accusations. But another part of me feels awful that I’m concealing the context of our relationship. Regardless, domestic or not, she still assaulted me and threatened me.

I’m really anxious, lonely, and confused. This girl has a lot more money than me and probably more support from the university on the basis of her gender. I’m worried it’ll get spun on me somehow. Should I get a lawyer? Should I push the issue? Thanks guys
