bit of a rant here, but i've noticed that when it comes to men's issues, there are some double standards that annoy me, which have been highlighted by u/TheTinMenBlog (btw, go check out his insta, it's amazing)

1) when it comes to phrases such as "toxic/fragile masculinity", "patriarchy" and people disagree with that phrase, it somehow always boils down to "misunderstanding the meaning" of the phrase, even when mra's and other groups try to explain why they believe the phrasing to be harmful. when other minorities, such as african americans, don't like the phrasing of a certain word, society does everything to (and rightfully so) educate the public on why the phrasing is seen in poor light, and to stop using such words, but when it comes to men, suddenly it's just a misrepresentation or the people that take offence to words like toxic masculinity take issue with it because they're toxic. somehow men just have to put up with the wording

2) i've noticed that feminists love demanding that men need to hold other men who do shitty behaviours accountable for their actions, which i can agree with (everyone who does shitty things should be held accountable, regardless of their characteristics), but when self-proclaimed feminists who say/do bad things are demanded to be held accountable, suddenly it's "that's not true feminism" and "stop bashing feminism". so men need to hold other men accountable, but feminists get a free pass to do whatever they want? the hypocrisy is such bullshit

3) i don't know if this is what it means nowadays, but in the early days when the phrase "fragile masculinity" was used, the phrase was used to make fun of how certain products were marketed towards men by going off about how the male ego was so "fragile", but in the same light, when certain products were marketed towards women, it was lambasted as pushing gender roles. and i know this is something a lot of people on this sub have become accustomed to, as have i, but the double standards just annoy me. why is it that when the marketing was towards women, it was considered to be "harmful", but when it came to men, it was deserving of mockery and ridicule? it annoys me to no end.
