Okay, i'm posting this here because i don't know where else to post it and because i'm kinda dumbfounded at how comical the lack of criteria to be a scientist nowadays is, so i had to share. To all of you who think that people's problem with evolutionary psychology is because "feminism" and not liking "the truth" i'm going to explain exactly why anyone who has actually took a deep dive on Evolutionary Psychology frowns upon it.

Basically, William Costello (some dude who studies incels and evo psy) published a paper on why Incels are allegedly not violent. Independently of agreeing with this premise or not, that's not the point. The point is the shit he wrote on the paper:

Firstly, we must put the extent of incel violence into context and compare it to other terrorist groups, as it has been suggested that incels should be categorized as a terrorist threat (Hoffman et al., 2020). Reports now number incel membership in the United States from around 40,000 (Beauchamp,2019) to hundreds of thousands (Kutchinsky, 2019), and at the time of writing there are ~20,000 active users of the main forum Incels.is. It is estimated that incels havekilled ~59 people worldwide (Hoffman et al., 2020). In contrast, the similarly sized(~15,000 members) Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram, has killed an estimated 350,000 people since 2002 (Amnesty International, 2015; Reuters, 2023).

Boko Haram is a large scale organized terrorist effort relaying on millions of dollars of funding and gun acess operating within countries with much less effective surveillence means and military muscle than western countries. Their entire foundation relies on the ideological concept of Jihad and kill pretty much everyone who doesn't agree with their shit. By contrast Incels are merely a collective of forums on the internet where a bunch of anonymous, disorganized dudes band together to lament their lack of sexual success, many of them being either teens, unemployed, neuroatypical, poor or any other form of demographic impediment. Am i the only one who thinks this is borderline comical and intellectualy dishonest comparison?

Like, this one motherfucker woke up one day and actually thought to himself "Why won't Incels kill as many people as Boko Haram if they got similar numbers?" and wrote an entire theory on it.

Then, he says this shit

Fleischman (2020) suggests that modern men may have their status striving mechanisms hijacked and undermined by online virtual worlds, such as video games and pornography. Pornography may provide counterfeit fitness cues to men that their sexual needs are being met, with lower costs compared to the anxiety inducing real-life competitive mating market

Basically, Incels aren't violent because Porn and fapping tricks their brain into thinking they are actually high status chads fucking multiple women. Care then to explain why the fuck do incels feel bad about being incels if Porn makes them think they are a top 20% male? This is absolute Potato logic.

So yes, if people distrust evolutionary psychology is not merely because "feminism", it's because the average capacity for critical thinking and intellectual honesty in these papers are beyond ridiculous.
