One of the biggest themes of the Barbie movie seems to be about ending sexism. When Barbie goes into the real world, she faces mistreatment at the hands of men as examples of how bad the real world supposedly is for women.

Yet, in the supposed "good" Barbie world, the Barbies treat the Kens as second class citizens, with only Barbies in all important jobs and positions of power.

Later in the movie, the Kens rebel and take over. Yet the Kens are treated as antagonists by the movie just because they wanted the power that the Barbies had and didn't want to be second class citizens anymore.

At the end of the movie, the protagonists overthrow the Kens. The main Ken and Barbie apologize to each other and the main Barbie tells the main Ken to make an identity for himself that is focused on his own desires rather than on her. But she does nothing to reverse the social and legal limits on the Kens. The Kens ask for a single seat on a twelve seat Supreme Court and are refused. None of the protagonists who seemed to care so much about gender equality when the Kens took over do anything about this.

So the lesson seems to be sexism is fine so long as it isn't aimed at women. Why are people acting like this movie has positive messages?
