What is the percentage of men who commit rape/violent crimes among the male population?

According to Wikipedia about 80,000 men per year commit rape (source). Dividing that by a population of about 160 million men means about 0.0005% of men commit the crime of rape yearly.

I haven’t seen a lifetime stat, but the above means it certainly can’t be more than 1% of men. Keep in mind many rapes are committed by repeat offenders, so the percent of men committing rapes must be notably lower than the total number of rapes committed by men.

As noted in another post, Sweden has had a huge surge in rape cases, but most of that increase is from a small subset of the population.

It's hard to find statics because violent crimes can mean anything fro whatever reason and targeting whatever group. If you limit the query to a specific crime it's easier to find valid data

It's only from memory, so I could be very wrong here, but I recall reading a post, perhaps done by @thetinmen, that stated 1 in 500 men will be convicted of committing a violent crime in their lifetime. So, if you were to specify the crime of rape as opposed to all violent crimes, the number would be a fraction of that figure.

I believe that the same post also quoted criminals as stating that their morals would prohibit them from committing acts of crime on women and children.

Very few men are convicted of rape but there are many men accused and we simply don’t know the truth.

33% of UK men have a criminal conviction although I'm not aware of any breakdown for violent crimes

In terms of rape the data isn't great. Lisak et al came up with 6.4% but that is based on survey data so may well be an undercount.

However you still have the issue that there is a gap between those who commit 1 violent crime and those that commit a lot of them.

Sweden is culturally different. In the US Its likely slightly higher and 50/50
