Not trying to get free legal advice. I’d just like to learn an overview of the mediation process and where/when a lawyer might come into play. Searching the term “mediation” here brought up too many results. I was hoping for a basic walk-through. Ckeck my assumption here: 1) Parties meet with one mediator to work out a basic aggreement. 2) A lawyer for each party then helps advocate any details. 3) Divorce decree written up and signed by both parties.

I know I’ve simplified it but are those the basic steps? (Insert scream fights, accusations and throwing heavy objects where needed.)

Any experienced insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
