Hi all!

This doesn’t have to be only for those married, but do want to clarify that’s my current position/pov.

I just graduated in engineering but can’t work due to my green card being in process. It’ll probably be anywhere from 6-9 months before I can work. (husband has offered for me to be stay at home perm. If that was my choice but having grown up in poverty… it scares me not to work)

I’m going to become a stay at home wife for the time being (might start a masters if I get most of it paid by scholarship so it’s tbd still)

I graduated without debt (yay) but that also means my savings aren’t huge (about 7k + last payout from current internship around 13k in total)

Husband makes about 8.6k after taxes per month but we do live in HCOL city. (Sadly our state has a really high income tax but we do get nice tax returns which is why we want to think big picture)

I obviously know how to work a budget and we have a budget we are currently working with. However, we haven’t been as accountable as we used to.

Now that I technically won’t be bringing in money.. I wanted to have a more active role in taking care of finances (he told me he is fine if I take over our accounts etc)

We were also wondering… is hiring a financial advisor for long term plans good? Has anyone ever tried it out?
