First of all, I know a little bit about how Turkey is seen from America and Europe. Although many people think that women are oppressed in Turkey, the opposite is actually the case. I'm not going to go into suicide, child labor, homelessness, work accidents, compulsory military service, lower life expectancy, etc., which almost everywhere else in the world affect men exclusively. In Turkey, they also affect men almost exclusively. Apart from that, I think we have positive discriminations (privileges) that are not applied to women anywhere else in the world:

-lifelong health insurance (age limit of 25 for male university graduates) ( Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu (sgk.gov.tr) )
-indefinite alimony ( indefinite alimony solution promise (previously given) )
-increased penalties for crimes against women and superiority before the law in general for women ( example TCK m.82 )
-Positive discrimination in recruitment and promotions. These positive discrimination practices continue even when the percentage of women is above 50%. (For example, approximately 60% of the FIBA ​​Group and approximately 55% of its managers are women and they continue to discriminate.)
-menstrual leave for 5 days per month (for heavy workers) ( CSGB )
-the political power to close down the men's rights center, the first of its kind in our history, in a very short time ( news )

It cannot be said that women were in a very bad situation in our past. For example, before the Ottoman Empire women were almost equated with gods, and after the Ottoman Empire they were quite well off. According to available documents, women's right to own property dates back to the 1600s. Despite the frenzied celebration of women's right to vote every year, these rights were only granted to men 8-9 years earlier than women. The first general election was held 10 years later. This is a very different issue. I will write a detailed and documented article later.

This year, for the first time, universities introduced special quotas for women over the age of 34 ( news ). This created absurd images. In Turkey, there is a centralized exam to enter universities and a ranking is formed according to the number of correct and incorrect answers and preferences are made with this ranking.

With the quota for women over 34 years of age, women over 34 years of age, who are in the ranks of around 2,000,000 with this quota, entered the Physics department of Boğaziçi University, where you normally have to be among the first 10,000 people to enter. Of course, this applies not only to this university and this department, but to all universities and departments ( news ).

It makes no sense to introduce such a quota when more women are already studying at universities( YOK ). This is inequality through and through. Both for men and for everyone who takes the test in general. There is no defense for this situation. Women may not be able to go to university for some reasons, but there are men who cannot go to university for some reasons. Not opening a quota for them creates inequality.

Some of the channels I follow on Youtube that criticize feminism often refer to Islamic countries and say that women are in a very bad situation there. This may be true for countries like Afghanistan, but Turkey is an exception. It is said that the employment rate of women is low, but it is not said that the state pays a lifetime salary. The number of women killed is at the European average. The number of men killed is much higher ( about 5 times more ). In our country, the femicide murders usually occur because of the unfair judgment during the divorce phase. For example, even if you are married for 1 day, you pay alimony to the woman indefinitely ( news ).

There are also male murders. Like the woman who shot her husband with a rifle, then dismembered him and burned him in a tandoor ( news ). Or the one who beheaded her lover and was later declared a hero by feminists ( news ).

You may not like Turkey and Turks, maybe you want us to disappear completely. There are many things I don't like in my country too. But the problems we have as men are very similar. I have no problem or enmity with anyone, no matter where or who they are from. I am writing here because there is no other place where I can write or talk about these things.
