Decades ago, I worked at summer program that had girl’s camp’s and boys’s camps and this was brought up as part of staff training. The boys were much more likely to get into physical altercations, yell at each other, etc, but within a day they’d be getting along again.

The girls in contrast were very competitive in more subtle, psychological ways, constantly trying to one up each other and in contrast to the boys, once started, it ever ended. This would include giving bad advice to embarrass the other girl (as this article mentions), but also trying to prove higher status, etc.

What I find interesting is how society tends to come down on the ways boys and men interact but not so much women. Why do we assume two boys getting into a brief physical altercation that quickly passes is worse than weeks of never ending psychological harassment? I think we see the same with domestic disputes and harassment policy.

If a man defrauds someone, it’s a serious crime, but women committing paternity fraud in even larger amounts often goes unpunished even when proven.

It’s not just that we have biases in favor of women, we have deep seeded biases about how we view masculine vs feminine behaviors. This article addresses a way women are cruel to other women but we don’t see it labeled as toxic femininity, in fact the author largely accepts this behavior as being light-hearted.

That's interesting. I saved a post from my favorite female sub, the body of which is below. I was thinking that she exaggerated since the difference between 3 inches and 6 inches is a heck of a lot. But maybe it's true?

I’ve cried ALL DAY! Went to get a haircut at ulta and the hairdresser showed me she was going to cut off about 3 inches of hair and I agreed! She gets to it and I’m working on my phone the whole time. By the time she’s blow drying my hair I realized how bad it was. My hair was just under my bra and now it’s above the boobs. She cut off a good 6 inches. I have super dry hair and it took get 4 years to get my hair to that length. :( when I saw my hair I immediately told her it looked too short and she basically started gaslighting me and said “remember I showed you how much I was going to cut off?” But this was TWICE as much. I literally sat in the chair and told her I wanted a trim. HOW was that a trim 😭😭😭 and I’m super shy and suffer with anxiety and I started to feel like it was my fault so I just paid and left but I can’t get over it. I hate my haircut so much it was too short :(((( I guess this is more of a rant since there’s nothing I can do anymore…. But maybe I can get some advice on how to move on.

On a lighthearted note, maybe guys do it as well? I laugh every time I watch this video.
