All for the following comment in which I was responding to a person saying that "feminists didn't make men the enemy, they just suggested that women can thrive on their own".

Are the frequent ironic misandry, killallmen hashtags, and treating men as the "oppressors of women" necessary to suggest that women can thrive on their own?

I didn't get a warning, or a ban for a few days, no. Permabanned completely.

On one hand I know I shouldn't be that surprised. But on the other I can't help but feel a bit disappointed.

When I first joined that sub, it seemed like a nice place. Yes I knew it was feminist friendly but I didn't see that as a problem necessarily. Fruitful and interesting discussions were made and I even got to discover Aba N Preach (one of my favourite YouTube channels) from one post in that sub.

But in recent times it seems that the balance between feminist friendly and men advocacy in that sub has been broken. The mods themselves when banning me said it's because "this is a pro feminist sub". The place has become a feminist sub first, and a place for men to talk about their problems second. A quite distant second.

The sad thing is, despite all the heavy moderation in that sub, all the policing for any """""anti-feminism""""", the censorship and the frequent parroting of feminist talking points... Feminists still heavily criticize that sub. They do recommend it as a "healthy place to talk about men" but I've also seen them calling the place "problematic", and "in danger of becoming misogynistic".

I thought I could nonetheless co exist with a place with a feminist presence. I thought I could engage in thought provoking discussions to challenge my own views and not fall into an echo chamber like it sometimes happens in the men rights sub (which I like for information purposes although not much for the occasional overlap with incels and ultra conservatives). But no. It seems menslib is headed to becoming an echo chamber of it's own. A mere colony of purely feminist subs, so to speak.

I don't hate feminism as a whole, I don't oppose it's existence and I value what it has done for women. I know there are lots of feminists who believe in the equality of sexes and oppose all forms of gender discrimination no matter the gender discriminated. But I don't think it should be above criticism. And there's plenty of criticizing to be made.

The Men's Rights Movement and Feminism need to coexist and balance each other out. Men need their own movement to defend and advocate for them, just like women have. They shouldn't be told to settle with being the metaphorical side piece of feminism when it's on the mood of somewhat remembering that men have problems too.
