It depends,

If there are kids involved? then the women will almost 100% of the time get the house in the divorce because "It would be more stable for the children"

Without kids, I won't be bold and say they always get it.. but I would say they are more likely to get the house..

It’s very likely but if you don’t lose the house it’s possible you can be forced to sell it and split the money

Couple reasons off the top of my head:

Children. To minimize the disruption to their lives.

The wife gets the house because the husband has a much bigger retirement (ie, 401k, govt pension, etc) account. (Worked in payroll during Uni & most men made max retirement contributions, while I seldom saw a woman under 30 making any sort of retirement contribution.)

The husband knows he can't afford it alone, while the wife doesn't want to give up the big house.

It depends on many things. Divorces are premised on what's considered to be "fair and equitable" taking all facts and circumstances into account at the time of the dissolution.

--the state where the divorce is taking place

--kids, their ages

--his premarital assets, her premarital assets

--the amount and size of the marital estate

--his income, her income

--the manner of living the spouses had during the marriage

--the ability of both parties to find living arrangements after divorce

--the ability of both parties to support themselves after divorce

--the ability of either spouse to pay mortgage/bills on the house after divorce

almost all the time, parties agree on what happens to the house. When they can't agree, the judge makes a decision or directs it be sold and proceeds divided equitably. Usually if wife gets the house, the husband gets an equitable/equivalent amount of other marital property.

Where men really get fucked in divorces is in "traditional" marriages of male breadwinner, female housewife with kids. Those guys get royally fucked up the ass. Those are the guys who end up living on 30% of their incomes in shitty one bedroom apartments or back with their aging parents.

First, don't marry and don't have kids. If you must marry, never ever ever marry a woman who's not working. You always keep her working. Never let her quit working. Make it very clear "You have to work. I will not be with a woman who doesn't work". You must protect yourself at all times. If you're going to do this, she has to work, she has to sign a prenup. A better way to do this is to just date and don't live together. If you must live together, keep your finances separate. She pays her way, you pay yours.

House (equity) is just another asset that's divided. All martial assets and debts are divided equally in the us.
