I respect the people who want equality for men and boys and who also want to improve the level of discourse around men's issues. A lot of times, I agree with you even if I don't agree with how you go about posting it.

If you think we as a community can do better then I want to hear from you, I want you as an ally for men and boyx. First, I want you to improve how you give feedback before you get everyone riled up.

  • I need you to distinguish between the person (or community) and the idea (or post). If you don't like a vein of posts or a type of comment then post about how that idea sucks. DO NOT post about how the community is bad because it has posts that contain that idea.
  • I need you to be more specific. Point to examples. It's VERY likely that your mind is misremembering the frequency of certain things.
  • I need you to take action instead of just posting about how we should do things. For example, flag sexist posts instead of writing about how we should not have sexist posts.
    • I've flagged hundreds of comments as violating rules across multiple subs with good results. In fact, just this morning I flagged a post on this sub that said something along the lines of "women suck". It was removed.
    • If you want to see more of certain kinds of content then be the change you want to see in the world and post it yourself.
  • I need you to start with respect. This tip will help you in life. If you want to give anybody feedback then don't be a dick. ALSO do not sandwich your feedback with good news and praise to "soften the blow". No. First make sure that the person (or community) that you're lecturing feels safe and respected. This is a transferable life skill.
  • Please realize that you are lucky to be able to post criticism. A lot of subs will remove posts like that. Don't believe me?
    • Go to r feminism and post about how they need to be less anti-male. Your post will be removed and you will be banned. Or r menslib. Post there about how they need to allow discussion about the ways in which men are oppressed and your post will be hidden and you will be shadow banned.
  • I implore you do not lump everyone together. If you don't like anti-feminist posts then don't assume that we're all anti-feminist.
    • For example, I'm an "intersectional egalitarian" and I believe that non-radical feminism has an important role to play in equality... just not in equality for men. The vast majority of us are not anti-women. For example, I'm married to a woman and have 2 daughters: trust me I'm pro-women and I'm mensRights AF. We're not right wingers. Again using myself as an example, I'm further left than most of the feminists I argue against. The only one idea that we all have in common in this sub is this: equality for men and boys.
  • I want you to be nice to the mods. They do thankless work.

Now, go forth and discuss about how we discuss men's rights!
