In feminism when women are disadvantaged it's sexism. When they are given preference or an advantage by men it's "benevolent sexism". In every situation women are oppressed victims, even when they're benefiting. This is absurd

I’ve found feminists often refer to discrimination against men as women’s rights, or sometimes equal rights despite the fact there’s nothing equal about advantaging women over men.

I find the same thing with the country equality index (I forget the official name). The more a country discriminates against men, the mire equal it’s considered.

I believe this is explained by some fascinating research conducted by Amy Yeung and first documented in her masters thesis, “Lay misperceptions of the relationship between men’s benevolent and hostile sexism”.

Yeung exposed women to three types of behavior in a work context: Hostile Sexism (which is what people normally think of when they hear the word 'sexism'), Equality (i.e. treating women exactly the same as men) and Benevolent Sexism (i.e. giving women advantages and preferential treatment, including holding them to lower performance standards, on the assumption that they are less capable than men).

The interesting thing is that the women in the study considered Equality to be the same as Hostile Sexism, i.e. misogynistic & sexist behavior by men. They were only happy with Benevolent Sexism, which they assumed to be normal, expected behavior for men and which they misunderstood to be equality.

Since the 2012 publication of that research, Yeung's findings have been replicated and launched a whole (small) field of study in social science.

Yeung’s research showed that women do not in fact want equality, they want "benevolent sexism", i.e. preferential treatment and an easier ride, and that's the standard of behavior by which they judge men.

Today all of society, including workplaces, are completely gynocentric. Everything is built to cater to women, if necessary at the expense of men. Only women’s comfort, safety, happiness and fulfilment matters - men’s does not. Women’s issues generate international outrage, major conferences, huge remediation programs and unlimited government funding. No one cares at all about men’s issues.

Unfortunately, all this pandering to women has only magnified the already huge sense of entitlement that some feminists already had. That’s why we bizarrely see feminists still complaining about their lot in life, despite the fact that they are objectively far, far better off than men.

They do not call it benevolent sexism from my observation, it's simply a victory. Have a look at any news report about a county in the US where women are out-paying men or buying more houses, the word "inequality" is nowhere to be find, rather we only hear the echoes of "victory", "achievement", and ironically, "Equals rights".

Feminism was a great ideology, it afforded Women a great many freedoms and rights that they didn't previously have. Eventually they ran out of things to campaign for as their freedoms and rights were gained. Now, they are more like a quasi-egalitarian group. But, quite a few of their splinter groups are founded upon hatred of Men or a sort of Female supremacy. Egalitarianism is a failed ideology, if it wasn't we'd all be moving towards it, not hatred of one another.

This falacy is always used to dismiss any male claim.

"Yes yes yes, may be men have X disadventage, but that's because women are seen as inferior who need special care! (Disclaimer: Never in the human history the inferior ones have been treated better than the superior ones)"

The logical consecuence is that if male discriminations is caused by women being seen as inferiors, what we need to do is keep suporting women and feminism, since the male discrimination will by fixed by itsel as soon as women are seen as equals and not inferiors.

Of course this falacy is complete horseshit. If women were actually seen as inferiors or as childs, they would have the same barrier that children have (no right to vote or no right to travel abroad, no right to buy alcohol etc etc)
