I hope he sues her and/or her parents. If false accusers get reign with impunity, such stories will get more common. Not to mention all the men rotting in jails and graves, only because they could not mount a decent legal defense and/or hire a top notch investigators to clear their name.

This is so wild. She conjured everything up because of her perverted sexual fantasies, and they still arrested him without a shred of evidence. And of course this happened in LA. Any other state, the case would immediately arouse skepticism.

This is and odd case. The article makes it sound like the majority of the blame should fall on the police. The supposed victim never reported him. It was a relative who saw her social media posts reported it. Then I guess investigators decided that no teenage girl would lie on the internet or something and arrested the guy.

If someone falsely accuses a man of rape, we ought to have the justice dept go after her hard and sentence her to life in prison (for ruining someone's life and livelihood) and seize all her assets (for defamation). If a man defends a woman found guilty of false rape accusation... go after him hard too (for ruining someone's life and livelihood and defamation). Even if the attempt is ultimately unsuccessful... the process is the punishment. This will require men's rights people to get in positions of power as judges, prosecutors, district attorneys, etc.

Men need an advocacy organization that will unequivocally defend them against all accusers (with teams of pro bono lawyers and the like), which fields private investigators to go after and expose the accusers of any wrongdoing such as lying, and which proactively sue accusers for ruining someone's life and livelihood and defamation. This organization needs to go after the journalists who uncritically trust whatever the accusers say, making it a legal liability to repeat an accuser's claims before the trial has resolved. The movement needs to cultivate, throughout western culture, a fear of engaging in false accusations.

The crazy part is that there were nearly 180 websites carrying the story within days of the arrest. This includes the LAPD website asking for “additional victims” when there was no victim to begin with. When you google his name, the overwhelming number of stories are of the arrest, the court appearances. It looks like there are 3-4 stories about the false accusations and the charges being dismissed. Only one of them is from a major outlet, the Daily Mail. Interestingly this seems to have disappeared from the top search results..

Even though the charges are dropped, the sentence continues and the silence is deafening from the very same media outlets that contributed to ruining someone’s career.

I think it may be time he learned to speak French. French directors casting Depp a lot, I think was twofold. The obvious, he's a great actor, but also, I'm sure it was a signal. A loud and clear FU to Hollywood and Disney, bless their souls.

I'm very much hoping something similar lies in store for Mr. Gatt.
