I know a young married couple where the guy beats the hell out of his wife but he's also a deadbeat loser who can't hold on to a job and sells things around the house to support his drug habit.

He has very low social status, the only people that like him are other druggies, he's as skinny as Machine Gun Kelly but with even less muscle tone and no tattoos, he doesn't dress well either because he doesn't care about much other than getting his next fix. His wife is almost his height and she has won minor beauty pageants yet she doesn't even think of leaving him, instead she does everything she can to cover up the fact that he beats her while somehow convincing herself she deserves it.

I'm a "catch". I'm a doctor, fit, 6' tall, good looking, charming, good with kids. Women ask me out.

My most recent ex cheated on me. I'm paraphrasing but she was so mad that she would get jealous because women would ask me out, but I never got jealous when men would hit on her. She ended up fucking someone to make me jealous. She obviously had other problems, but nothing is a lock.

What you describe comes more or less down to status, which, of course, will help you. But as it is the case with looks, status is just one variable out of many. If e.g. you have no chemistry with a person, both looks and status will no get you anywhere. It's always a combination of variables that is relevant. You don't have to be among the best to be sucessful, most of the time crossing a certain threshold is enough.

I think this applies more for younger girls, as you get older the dynamic changes a bit and girls look for other stuff as well but yes having options always does help

You shouldn't think about relationship-length in terms of "loyalty". If a relationship isn't working, would you really want your partner to stay in it purely out of loyalty? Wouldn't you both be better off if you went your separate ways and found compatible partners?
