Join a martial arts class.

I was in the same situation after graduating all my friends bailed on me little by little. But I’m glad I found other people who were more mature and weren’t into the same “punk” lifestyle.

I recommend looking for a gym with different martial arts classes you can choose from. You might like one better than the other and it also means more people. It will also help you get in shape and stay active.

It depends on how likable you are, and that would depend on your social skills, appearance. The good thing is you can make an effort to improve all of these things.

If you can make an effort to be interested in others, they will be interested in you. But you need to make an effort to be a valuable person to hang around. This means not being awkward, creating a fun atmosphere, etc.

That book "how to win friends" is a great recommendation. You should also lift like your life depended on it, there's too many benefits to list. Keeping good hygene, dressing nicely, being interested in others, and never give the impression you are a lazy person (you shouldn't be a lazy person).

College is actually a lot easier to make friends than high school, because you pretty much live with the people you go to school with if you choose to reside on campus. Just approaching and talking to people is enough most of the time to make a friend as long as you find a connection, and you follow through by initiating some follow up. There's tons of campus events and clubs you can take part of, and if you leave your dorm and just walk around, you'll be exposed to so many people. The hard part if opening up your door and stepping outside a lot of the time. My first few weeks of college, I never left my dorm except to go to class or get something to eat. Big mistake, and a rather small regret.
