Essentially I approached her while she was heading to class. We were going in the same direction so we chatted while walking.
Relevant parts for context:
Opened with a simple hey, how's it going. She replied and didn't seem super fazed by the fact that I was talking with her. So I complimented on her hair since it was dyed slightly red. She seemed kind of happy about it claiming that she dyed it herself. Then we talked about hair and dyeing hair.
When that conversation thread died. I asked what her name was and followed up with sometjjng like "nice to meet you. I thought you looked cute, so I wanted to meet you - see if your cool"
There was a slightly longer period of silence. Then she asked me what I studied.
This soet of threw me off because usually they say
- Thank you, and I have to continue conversation
- Thank you, and they continue conversation (ex: ask me a question)
- Embarrassed/shy reaction
- Atmosphere turns awkward/Boyfriend line pops up.
This one was more like she heard me, paused for a bit and then asked me a question (continued interaction)
So at that point I wasent sure what would come up from the interaction.
It turns out she's same major as me and we were sort of shit talking a professor and figuring out what classes the other had taken.
Then when we were about to separate I asked if she wanted to get boba sometime and get to know each other more. She said sure and she actually got her phone out and asked me what my number was. This too was quite unusual. Usually im the one that asks.
Note: other than the hair compliment at the beginning, direct interest statement, and when she asked what I studied, I playfully made her guess, I didn't do any flirting.
Then fast forward, I text her and she texts back. I actually totally forgot how I closed so I asked her if she was a boba girl. She was like whats a "boba girl". I made some joke. We talked about falvors and shit for a bit. She said she only had boba once before. I said like "only once!?" "Let's get boba sometime then. How's your schedule tomorrow/this week?" She gives me a time range that's later in the day (bit of an odd time for boba, but that's no problem for me)
Now the question I have is do i formulate this as a date? Ex: do I say "let meet at x around y time then. It'll be a cute evening boba date"
I dont wanna scare her off by saying it's a date. If she seemed super into me I would have no problems. But her reaction to my direct statement of interest leaves me a bit confused.
Is it a better idea to not formulate this as a date. Hangout with her a few times. Then ask her out? My goal is not a hookup
