Things to improve:

Joke:

Asking her “what flavour her ice cream” isn’t really a joke, there is no punch line or humour in asking that, even if you laugh. Laughing doesn’t make something humorous, that’s just you trying to awkwardly seek rapport. So you may wanna improve your humorous abilities.

Length of conversation:

The reality is that in order to stand out and be memorable, you need to have a longer conversation.

A short conversation isn’t really enough time for her to really judge if you are a cool person to spend time with, so even if you asked for her number the likely outcome is that she would have given you an excuse to turn you down politely.

The conversation was short, and impersonal, so really there is nothing memorable about it for her to want or continue it.

Lack of intent:

Another problem is that you don’t really establish why you are talking to her, when you are seducing a girl you need to hit on her, you need to let her be aware that you are not just a friendly guy having friendly conversations with whoever happens to be there, instead you need to let her know are a guy which has an attraction for her, you need to let her know you are into her, you need to flirt.

If it’s not clear what the heck your intentions are, then you just will be treated as a friend and that’s it.
