I know men are irrational beasts themselves but fucking hell I really cannot get a grasp on what women (generally speaking) want from me.

Over the years I've seen most of my girl friends go from laughing hysterically to crying in distress to laughing again in the space of 10 minutes. I never know how the fuck to respond.

I've seen the most mild mannered girls completely change character and do things that would make a roman emperor raise an eyebrow at parties and nights out, cheat on their partners etc.

I've had girls go from being intensely interested in me to completely ignoring me for no apparent reason, and go from messaging me enthusiastically to blocking me.

I've had what I thought was a great date then been ghosted - or what I thought was a horrible date then received a message the next day saying they had a great time.

I've known girls who criticize toxic masculinity but then get beguiled by hyper masculine traits. Tell me they wouldn't ever meet up with a stranger on a dating app, but then go home with a guy they've only just met at a shady nightclub.

I've known prim and proper goody goody girls who've dated aggressive meathead drug dealers covered in tattoos, and ratchet girls date fairly meek and nerdy guys.

I've had girls get uncomfortable around me, then get bored when I try to dial things back. Tell me they're attracted to guys who they can't figure out, but feel safest with guys who don't try to hide things from them.

I've had girls smile invitingly when I'm out only to ignore me when I approach them, then approach me later, then go cold when I try to escalate, eventually tell me they're just looking to dance with their friends, then I see some schmuck buying them a drink later.

Tell me they only want a guy who knows exactly what he wants, whilst they clearly have no idea what they want.

I think I'm honestly too logical for this stuff - my brain keeps trying to find a pattern it can work with but apparently there are none. I know humans are complex creatures and social interaction has many dimensions, but why does it have to be this confusing?

It makes me want to say fuck the whole thing - I'm gonna focus on areas of my life where I can make consistent, guaranteed progress like working out, educating myself, writing music etc.

So you think ok I'll look to what they do not what they say, but even that confuses me.

I hope this doesn't come across as incel-ish, and perhaps it's coz I'm on the autism spectrum, but does anyone else feel like it's all a headfuck?

Is this supposed to be part of the fun?
