I read a recent post just now where a lot of guys were commenting that British girls are really hard to pull cuz they’re so ‘cold’, ‘stuck-up’ and ‘standoffish’.

Well, in reality British girls (and guys) are the same as anywhere else, and can be the friendliest and flirtiest people you ever meet. But you need to know there’s a layer of ice on the surface of every Brit, and you need to melt this before you can have any success. This is the key thing that non-natives miss, and they assume British girls will be as free and easy as e.g. an Italian girl or Eastern European.

With British girls, the clue’s in the name - they’re British. They’re button-up, deadpan and socially introverted - we all are, especially in the south and especially in London. This certainly means British girls (and guys for that matter) come across as cold, standoffish and unfriendly. But it’s just a cultural thing. The UK isn’t the Deep South, where if you knock at a stranger’s door they’ll invite you in for dinner and put you up for the night. If you did that here you’d be told to piss off and the police would be called.

If you want to pull a British girl you need to match their standoffish energy at first. Obviously some of them are very extroverted and friendly and you could approach them the same way you might approach an American girl. But a lot of the time, they’ll be acting cold, and so you need to act cold too. Don’t show too much enthusiasm. Definitely play it cool. And as the conversation progresses she’ll warm to you more and will be friendlier and more expressive. And when she is, you do the same. You gradually crescendo in flirtation and open up more and more as she does.

TL;DR us Britons are shy and miserable and so if you approach us all guns blazing our natural instinct is to blow you off. We’re always down for a laugh and to have fun, but you have to earn it by gaining our trust.
