Always be closing. Why? 1. To gain the reference experience. 2. To exercise the knowledge that you learned. 3. To get what you want. Even if you weren't in state, you shoulda tried - motion creates emotion. She was an 8! You coulda been more persistent.

If you're not closing out of fear, that'd be one thing, but if you're not into a girl, closing doesn't do much good for you. Why get into the habit of picking up on girls who aren't your type? Why would you want to acclimate you game (at ALL) to girls who aren't your type? It sounds like this girl was an "8" on paper but more like a "5" in your head.

Your preferences are what matter. You did the right thing.

Why are you on seddit?

You simply haven't got the life experience to have a clarity of purpose required to get what you want out of seduction. I don't mean this in a high-and-mighty way, hell I am only a few years up on you, I just mean that you really don't know what you want. Some people have been awkward with women their whole lives (twice, even three times as long as you've lived) and want to learn the social skills that they never learned naturally. Others dislike being the dishonest nice guy and want to learn how to take their lives into their own hands. Still more are good with women, but want to become Casanovas.

What do you want?

Not knowing what you want is not a bad thing, because we all need various amounts of time to figure that out. But if you don't have a goal in mind, seduction will do nothing for you.

PS. I don't mean to be preachy, but since I've already started might as well go the whole hog. Google "social robot" or read the relevant portion of The Game to understand why it's not exactly a good idea to start early with seduction and such.
