So yesterday I go to a grocery store to eat my lunch after the gym. I figure since I'm already there I'd do a lap around the store and see if there's any cuties I could chat up. There is, she's a cute blonde and she's looking around the frozen vegan section. We make eye contact, I chicken out at first but know I need to go talk to her, I turn around.

I approach her, "Hey can I meet you real quick?". She says sure, I tell her I thought she was cute and I had to say 'hi'. She is extremely receptive, it is a breath of fresh air from the usual "ew go away" girls. I ask her if she is vegan, she says kind of and that she's trying to be, I tell her that I am and we bond over that shit. She is wondering if soy is bad. We get to talking about health and nutrition. I tell her her eyes are very green, she giggles and responds something like "omg stop haha". She tells me I have nice eyes too. She says she just moved to the city and she's an English teacher. She says she's usually busy during the week. I ask her if she likes coffee. She says she loves coffee, I say "alright this is what's gonna happen, I'm gonna take your number and we're gonna go get a coffee together." She agrees, I think she liked my confidence but teases me a bit by saying "wow look at you, getting the number..." I tell her "Hey I mean you gotta be pro-active, girls aren't gonna come to you ya' know..." She agrees. I hand her my phone, not only does she type in the number but saves her name and the name of the grocery store that we met in. Good investment no? I usually make the mistake of getting the number and then running off which makes the girl feel like you just wanted a number - I didn't make that mistake this time, she hands the phone back to me, I put it in my pocket and we keep chatting like nothing happened. Eventually I tell her that I have to take off, I give her a side hug goodbye, she tells me to send her a text with my name (girls never tell me this).

Cut to 20-30 min later after I finish my lunch. I text her "Hey x this is gtrman571, the vegan musician ;)". She responds 5 minutes later "Hi Andrew. It was nice chatting with you", I felt so good about the interaction that I think I made the mistake of asking her out too early. I've read you ask her out the following day no? Anyways, an hour later after she responds I text "Same to you. Hey so I'm grabbing a drink at x tomorrow night at 8, come join me". No response. I'm all depressed and shit and figure it's over, but she was really hot so I send a text today at 5 pm, "Did you end up getting soy?" Around 7 she responds "Ya I did.. the chikn I buy had soy in it I think ha". Around 7:30 I respond, "Nice, it's like soy finds it's way into everything these days haha - I take it you're busy tonight, what's the rest of your week look like?" No response.

Deep down I know this probably means it's over and I'll never see her again, but part of me is in denial I guess. It just sucks man, I felt I had a strong connection with her, but the second I leave she wants nothing to do with me. You guys have any idea on what went wrong or is this just one of those 'shit happens' scenarios?

Edit: Update: She texts back at 9:30, "I just bought two new plants, I'm really happy" WTF?
