I can get friends just fine. But I can't seem to establish a romantic relationship! I can't tell if it's just me or if it's something wrong with them or both. I have duchenne muscular dystrophy, and I'm dependent on a powered wheelchair to move. I'm not deformed or anything; i'd appear normal if not for the chair. It's a genetic disease that causes the muscles to atrophy. I can feel every part of my body, and i have some use of my arms. I can move my legs some, but they can't support my weight.

I used to be able to walk, but even then I had no luck with females. I was confident then, but i kept getting something wrong. I only had one girlfriend in middle school but she had to move before we got anywhere. Since then it's been nothing but rejections. I've always been friends with more than a few girls. However, i've never been a player and never plan to be. Also, the idea of casual sex is repugnant to me. Not due to religion, but to my own personal morals. Anyway, I'd get to know a girl for a few weeks, develop feelings for her, get enough courage to confess. Then i always got a flat rejection or they use the infamous "I just want to be friends" line. Are they just too shallow to see me as a person, or is it some personal failing?

I tell girls about my affliction and that i'm not paralyzed. I even implied my gentlemanly area is functional a few times. When I was 17 I thought I was getting rejected because people assumed i'm paralyzed and thus impotent. But even when i disproved that, it didn't make a difference.

I'm a great guy; kind, intelligent, respectful honest, funny, loyal, and understanding. Basically i'm an all round gentleman. I can't fathom why nobody would like me! i'm getting more pessimistic and cynical every day now.
