First off... fix your typing. You misused "there" and "no", have a distinct lack of capitalization, and your grammar as a whole leaves something to be desired. Also without seeing some of your texts, it's kind of hard to say.

The how/why are directly related. I mean here are my basics on texting:
Start with a flirty text, preferably commenting on something from the bar, like "Had a great time dancing but it's going to take ages for my ankles to heal from being stepped on, know how they got that way?" or another classic "So I found this weird number in my phone... Who is this? :P" or you could be straightforward "Enjoying this crazy day? Meet me at [bar] at [time]" or since you like hiking, hiking but I'd be careful using that for a first meeting just the two of you. All of those start a conversation and if you tease her, she's going to want to defend herself a little. The last one though just tells her that you are a decision maker, that you're going to go regardless of whether or not she's going, and that you have confidence to just assume that she's going to go with your plan. I've found that even strong, independent women appreciate a man who takes charge. You should have sent her a text immediately after you got her numbers saying "Good meeting you last night. I'll see you soon unless [tease]" where [tease] is referencing something from the night like stepping on your feet, getting swallowed by a large handbag if she had one and you teased her about it, etc... But seriously dude, type like someone who has a solid grasp on the English language. I'm not im, know when to use no or know, when to use they're, there, and their, I not i, punctuation and general grammar rules. Buy The Elements of Style, learn it, love it. NO ONE is attracted to poor grammar.

If you have a smartphone, they can all have autocorrect in some fashion on them. If Android use Swype, Swiftkey, update to Jelly Bean something. As for not being in school, doesn't matter, learning is always good. But since I think it'll help you more to appeal something else, if a girl has to choose between two guys who are pretty similar, grammar can make that little bit of difference. Taking the time to make sure you use decent sentences and such shows that you care.

Dude, not being in school is the anti-excuse for having bad grammar, and believe it or not your intelligence is a pretty big deal when a woman is considering whether you are worth her time. Your grammar, as it is, conveys that you are incapable of intelligible thought, let alone interesting thought. This is a case that requires some inner game/self-improvement.

Grammar is where it is at. Until you meet them again, all you have is your verbal arsenal of fun things to talk about, to keep them interested in you. If you are a much better conversationalist in person, it is your job to take your in person personality and communicate that via text. I can think of no time where the solution to that has been poor grammar and text shortcuts.
Honestly, I've had several girls tell me that they have turned down dates with guys who would not spell out full words : if you can't even bother to try to communicate fully with me, why would I bother with you.
