I am not saying that evolutionary psychology as a field is bro science (though it's a broad field and some of it isn't "science" in the purest, testable sense). I am criticizing the explanations given by PU thought-leaders for why their techniques or viewpoints work or make sense.

The crap I am referring to is stuff like "approach anxiety is due to the fact that in 'caveman times' [when/whatever those were] if you approached a female who wasn't yours, you'd get your head bashed in with a rock". AFAIK, there is no evidence that such a thing was a phenomenon/cultural practice at any time or place. There is also too much veneration of pre-agricultural societies, as I said. There was a video where Tyler claimed that men in such societies already knew a lot of the broader life principles/advice he was laying out just by virtue of having to hunt. Very bullshitty. A lot of the stuff he was laying out was appropriate for a highly individualistic society, which the societies he was references were certainly not.

To me, PU experts are like great mechanics. They can fix a car really well, they get generally how it works, and they can even supe it up to turn into an amateur racing vehicle. But they are not highly educated and sophisticated engineers, and they certainly aren't the group or class of people who discover laws of physics or invent things leveraging those laws that make new types of vehicle possible.

It is far more ignorant to accept the explanations for human behavior and social dynamics proffered by uncredentialed dudes in YouTube videos than it is to be highly skeptical of their views on topics that aren't strictly speaking game (or perhaps marketing). They are experts in game, knowledgeable about marketing, and often quite expert in the discipline and self-management required to haul one's ass through difficult endeavors. They are very lopsided men, however. I tend to skip their bullshit whenever they start trying to offer their views on things outside of game (bitching about the "mainstream media", etc). They have spent so much time cultivating confidence and belief that they are losing their ability to detect their own bullshit.
