My roommate is a little guy who has been hanging out (read: orbiting) this cute chick who wants to keep hanging out with him but just remain friends.

So she complains to him about the guys she goes out with, who keep "being mean" to her, but she keeps going back to them.

Sounds pretty classic, but the thing that leaves me scratching my head is she apparently told one of these dudes that she wanted to go to Red Lobster, her favorite restaurant, for her birthday, and the dude just said, "we're getting Mexican food and you can just order the fish tacos." She goes back to him, presumably.

Now the thing I don't quite get, is do we really have to go to that extreme where we don't let a girl pick where she eats on her birthday? Is this just like a super low self-esteem girl? I get being the leader and not letting a girl walk all over you, but is this above example too much?
